Portland Regionals 1st Place Runner: V-God

nobodyhasthis 1343

5-1 Swiss, 3-0 Elims. Play aggressive, hammer HQ for suckers, despycreds and imp action. Get virus tokens all day and use Atman to break super efficiently unless you really need to get through wraparound, then set it to str 7 and win tournaments. Blackmail every remote you can trash whatever's in there just do it. Run all assets and trash for cheap because you're just a better version of whizzard. Memstrips is for late game super sucker medium rig and you're drawing your whole deck anyways so there's no need to really hurry the install. A high level memstrips play is to install it for no reason when you're about to win just to show you have it to make mediohxcore salty. I love Val and she loves me.

Notice the complete lack of Net-Ready Eyes boys and girls. I am sure once mediohxcore is done gnashing his teeth about MemStrips he will put one of these in his deck, oh who am I kidding... I can just thank my lucky stars that I didn't face this deck at today's tournament in Portland... Because it absolutely crushed me at our Wednesday meetup @ Guardian Games.

Congrats to @nobodyhasthis, a great performance.

@nobodyhasthisvery well played - i watched on stream. I don't think I realized when watching that you only had 1 Yog and 1 Mimic, but it clearly worked out well. Congrats on the win and on your next-level memstrips play!

I've played a lot of Val and this is starting to feel right. OkOk You won a tournament with it; but, I feel like we're finally approaching a tight deck list with this identity. It's sooo easy to construct a good deck list with Val, that it's hard to find the great ones. The pro moves here, imo are these:

  • Memstrips (I'm serious, with desperado its the only way to have a truly full rig and still play anarch tricks; I'm always fight for space for the damn card and cutting it and regretting it)

  • Liberated Account - It's the economy, stupid. Desperado's great, but you need liberated and kati to make anarch econ hum. It took me too long to realize this so I gimped myself at my regional for 3x desperado and got iced out. Sometimes you just need that burst to carry you through your installs.

  • Atman, I've kept atman out of my decks and at first I was skeptical of the 1 mimic, 1 yog; but, having played val in the past, and anarch in the past its making more sense. You want about 6 "breakers" beyond your utils. And atman's just a bit more universal than mimic or yog with parasite eating whichever of those cards is lower.

  • Deja Vu; I wanted these in my deck, but again didn't have the room (I felt). Either more parasites or an extra 2 blackmail. Both are good.

  • Plascrete: I think 1x with I've Had Worse is right in a scorch meta. It's still possible to lose with IHW and the plascrete just assures your victory.

Congrats on your win. Were you playing patch at regionals too?

Just played a game against a Polish(ish) Tennin deck. Lost about 8 cards to damage in the first 3 turns, they scored a Clone Retirement on turn 2, I was locked out for ages, and I didn't draw a Chronotype until the last 15 cards of my deck. Won handily.

This deck is a collection of some of my favorite cards (that don't suck). I'm not a huge fan of the Breakfast Club either, but this deck wins.

Well done, and nice deck.

Yeah....Atman at 7...I'm still shaking my head at that one. Very well played through the day, and very solid decklist. :D

This deck seems good, but how does it fare against Weyland Glacier, or any glacier with Elizabeth Mills?

Excellent deck. Do you ever find you want some multi access on HQ? Or is the comsistency of the extra atman worth more? Looking at +2 legwork -1 utopia -1 atman

What strength do you set your atman at?
