The Devil's Pancakes (v1.0) - 1st Place GNK (Berkeley, CA)

RedScharlach 82

I've been playing Noise for the past few months, and this is my current build. Just went 4-0 and got first place at a 16-person GNK at Eudemonia in Berkeley, CA! (My corp deck was Philly Astrobiotics, went 3-1, nothing special. #slottheclot)

My thoughts on this iteration:

  • Cyberfeeder is okay, but I'm not sure it actually gets more value than a third Daily Casts or Sure Gamble. It's definitely much worse to draw in the mid-late game than either of those. I went from 3 to 2 for this version, and I'll try going to 0 next time.
  • Street Peddler is the real deal. There's no good reason not to run 3.
  • WyldPancakes is great. I understand it's fashionable these days to cut them and use some combination of IHW, Inject, and Earthrise, and I'll have to try it at some point, but I'm reluctant to leave this combo behind; 2 free cards per turn is one hell of an engine for Noise, and now we have Street Peddler to help us find it faster. Plus, it enables Faust!
  • Faust is a solid answer to a lot of things you'd otherwise struggle with: the obvious wins are Enigma and Lotus Field, but it also ends up being randomly useful against weird ice like Excalibur, and at times when you have too many cards to play and not enough credits. Noise needs something like this, and from what I've seen so far, it fits this role a lot better than Crypsis (ew) or Knight (meh).
  • Could go down to 1 Mimic; Faust can take some of the load, and adding 2 might have been an overreaction to a couple games where I felt very annoyed by Architect.
  • Lamprey is really useful, and I can't believe I ever played without it. The HQ threat is real!
  • I should probably put some damage protection in this deck, but when I ran IHW, I was almost never happy to see it; WyldPancakes is so much draw already that you never want more. Maybe a Plascrete?

Why not Scheherazade over a Cyberfeeder? Too fragile?

This deck is certified insanity.

@LSK Honestly? I just forgot that card existed. But now that I think about it, we don't have much Power Shutdown in the NorCal meta, and even then, you can Aesop's it for 3. I'll give it a shot in the next version!

@thesenorcortez Thanks! I try to do right by Mr. Reilly.

Cyberfeeder can still fuel your Mimic and Corroder so why not?

@ZiNOS For anything cheap enough that paying for repeated runs through it is a viable strategy, I'd rather Parasite it. The only exception is Architect, and now, I have the option to save money on that by breaking it with Datasucker + Faust instead.

My bigger concern with Scheherazade over Cyberfeeder is that it doesn't work with Parasite, but being able to install multiple things on it per turn + being able to use it for installing breakers + the lower initial cost will (theoretically) make up for that.
