Revenge Guaranteed, Protection optional

Ortho 105

Qualified for the BABW final with an early version of this list at the Warwick event coming in third. I've also won two GNKs with versions of it.

There's a discussion of the strategy behind the deck at the netrunners.co.uk forums:

But it basically boils down to going fast. Be annoying. Shut down SMCs, Faeries, Clone Chips, you name it. If the runner goes low on creds and doesn't have an immediate answer to a remote they probably don't have the clicks to find an answer, get in, and clear the tag. So you can often open up scoring windows when your scoring server is just a Meru Mati. You have to play the odds a bit though.

Casting Call is great. Would love to have more but I'm already on two Snares, one less than the absolute minimum I think this deck needs. If the runner has only a few creds you can use Casting Call to score without any ice at all. Protection Guaranteed.

This is marvellous to see, particularly in light of Argus winning both in the beginners' bracket & in the main event. Congratulations once more! Very interesting to see how the agenda and asset mix changes when more cards are available. I'm guessing Oaktown Renovation is the main target for Casting Call? PAD Campaign did so much work for me on the day; I can see how Capital Investors and Restructure blows it out of the water.

How did Shadow work out for you? Is it for more of a tax with the two subroutines over something like Hunter or even Searchlight? (I played against a fair few of the latter and saw how without advancements it was very easy to play around, so I imagine that might not really be competition for Shadow.)

I'm absolutely not sold on Shadow. It's a floating slot at the moment. It's occasionally a two credit tax when runners have to break it, but bad pub means thats generally irrelevant. It's not especially punishing to facecheck, but at least it's cheap. In the past I've tried Wendigo and Checkpoint in that slot. I've also tried Eli, Wraparound, Lotus Field, and Rototurret when I had a spare influence. Hunter could also work, but tracing ice and bad pub isn't a great combo in the long run. Grim might also be a decent idea.

One way or the other I think Pad Campaigns probably net you a bigger swing in the money advantage game in the long run. However, I think with Capital Investors and Restructure available they fit a rushy model better.

Alternative title: Forget it Noise, it's Corporate Town.

Great list, but how do you play against decks packing film critics?

Semi serious answer - Corporate Town.

Actually serious answer - There are ways to play around it, but it certainly isn't good news when it hits the table. It takes two clicks to take an agenda off Film Critic so if the runner has one on there the equation hasn't really changed; they are unlikely to have the clicks to get in to your remote if they don't have the answers immediately to hand. Taking an agenda off Film Critic is probably more taxing than clearing a tag for most decks. It just unfortunately means you aren't automatically safe when the runner has few credits and it also means the runner can often run last click into remotes with relative impunity. It also drastically weakens Casting Call.

It probably isn't the first target in the games I rez Corporate Town in - that honour goes to Kati Jones or possibly Wyldside. But Corporate Town does take care of it if you're going to rez for other resources anyway. If the runner goes in and pays the five to trash that's probably a win for you on balance.

The choice of SEA Source over Midseasons in this deck is deliberate as it allows greater flexibility when trying to kill. In addition it means Film Critic doesn't completely destroy your kill threat.

I've only played against Film Critic twice in competitive games and a few other times online. I've not lost against it yet, but it's early days.

It is also worth remembering that there are no efficient tutors for Film Critic. You are planning to go fast anyway. My experience is you can try and outrun it. I'm sure this won't work all games but the odds are in your favour for the first few agendas I think.
