Nexus Iain (2nd at Cambs GNK)

Awful Iain deck I tried at an 8 player GNK this week. My other deck was Harishchandra. If some of the card selections (or the entire deck concept) seem a bit naff: yes, but it’s for this thing I’m trying.

Round 1 vs Tennin (loss)- Stole a Medical Breakthrough and dug for Shadow Net to sell it. Found Shadow Net the turn after he scored the last Breakthrough. Lost on time because I couldn’t get into R&D to spend a big stack of TTW counters and I’ve just realised I could have Shadow Net’d an agenda for a Special Order to get Breach and goddamnit.

Round 2 vs Skorpios (win)- Opponent didn’t Hunter Seeker my Nexus when they could, admitted it was a mistake. Nearly missed what could have been their winning Atlas despite HQI and hitting a 5-card HQ four times. Two turns later, did it all again for the win. Drip economy made me ~250% of the creds I needed, meaning that installing it was nothing more than a tempo hit. Couldn’t contest the scoring remote.

Round 3 vs CtM (win)- Around turn 4 I got SEA-> Closed Accounts-> ASI’d, taking away ~16 credits, a Maxwell, TTW with 6 counters, and two Mr. Phones. Even Iain wasn’t firing because I’d grabbed an early Beale. Didn’t draw any bypass runs to let me contest the remote, so poked R&D relentlessly. Won because DBSs’ hard work was undone by Marilyn shuffles.

Thoughts: Iain retired for a reason. He’s obviously cleaned up his act though because I didn’t see a drug dealer for any of the games.
