Good Stuff Geist

BTrain 2971

Forget the frills, it's time to run.

This is Geist with some spine. Our beloved B&E breakers have some backbone now in the form of Corroder, Mimic, and Passport. This is a pressure deck and the concept here is to move Geist's ability away from a deckbuilding crutch, and turn it into a tempo accelerator. Our non-disposable breakers are not only permanent strength boosters for Shiv/Spike/Crowbar, but they take a load of pressure off the B&E's + Faerie. Most importantly they keep you from getting shut out on turns where you need to apply pressure.

When asking the age-old question "Why not just play this deck in Andy?" it's important to look at what you're getting out of the deal. It's true that Geist can have a hard time recovering if he gets shut out early (Crisium Grid can be a nightmare), but the upside to running him is the sheer amount of snowballing he does. When he gets rolling, not only is he running for cheap, stealing your money, spreading your defenses thin, and derezzing your ice - he's getting more cards that allow him to do the exact same thing on the next turn, all while using Kati as a ticking time bomb. Corps used to have to hunt for scoring windows. Now they need to look for recovery windows against a Geist who's gotten the upper hand, and that can mean devoting an entire turn to placing ice they might not even be able to afford to rez.
