Creepy Sage

Another effort to make Sage work in a Shaper deck. This is mean to be a "fun times" deck that ends up more of a "proof of concept" than anything truly competitive.

Some thoughts:

  • First, this deck doesn't include any program tutoring. I had some Test Run's initially, but found I didn't use them. 3x Sage should be enough to make sure you encounter it fairly soon, but it can be stubbornly elusive at times.
  • It does, however, include a hardware tutor as I'm only running two copies of Dinosaurus. Clone chips can be used as fodder (or plascretes if you're desperate and you are pretty sure you're safe against meat damage)
  • The e3 Feedback Implants seem like a good fit in a deck with Sage. As a result, Creeper also seemed like a no-brainer as it benefits from e3 and is a butt killer to boot, leaving valuable MU open for Sage.
  • I tossed in 3 copies of Lockpick which installs for free for Kate and end up being a pretty decent economy boost for Sage. A single copy of Silencer helps a bit with Creeper too.
  • Because of Sage, econ is necessarily Resource based. Since the Dyson's are providing both MU and Link, I figured I'd go with Underworld Contact. Daily Casts and Kati Jones are also in. All of those can benefit from The Supplier which also becomes a star when installing Dyson Mem Chips, HQI and RDI (and Plascrete I guess)
  • Multi-access is provided by HQI and RDI.
  • Burst draw brought to you by Diesel as usual.

Weaknesses are:

  • Slow setup time. I had initially set out to try to build a "speed rig" with Sage but I haven't figured out what that deck looks like yet. Instead, this deck feels more like a "how good can I make Dinosaurus" deck.
  • Huge ICE. Though to be honest, at it's peak, Sage will sit at stength 9 (base 4 MU, +2 from Dino, +3 from Dysons) so only Wotan and Curtain Wall are out of reach. If you're desperate, install a LLDS Processor and Scavenge your Sage for a surprise +1.
  • Also, it can get pricey to break lots of smaller ICE. Don't see too many decks that do this, but NEXT decks are pretty annoying.
  • Finally, Creeper is a pretty pricey Killer that is only a 2-of. This can mean you have a killer Sage setup but can't afford to face-check for fear of destroyers.
