Top 12 Louisville: Stirling, Cooper, Draper, Price v3

  • v1.5: -3 Siphon, +3 Calling In Favors.
  • v2: -3 Calling in Favors, +3 Siphon, -1 ProCo, +1 DONUT!
  • v3: -6 centrals-only breakers, -2 Crash Space, -2 Daily Casts, +3 NACH, +1 Logos, +3 Express Delivery, +2 Crypsis, +2 Femme. 13th seed in swiss, top-12 finish at 69-player Louisville Regional.

I swapped out my centrals-only breaker approach for @theryanburke 's Crypsis+Femme package. I never, ever played Femme, but I think I want at least one as a backup option.

I'm still on the learning curve with the deck, but Iain did some serious work against a strong field where I didn't get to play any of the decks I know I can wreck, viz. CI and Weyland. Lost two games due to lack of skill (got too aggressive too soon against RP, still shaky on HBETF), and one game because I had poor draws against a TWIY player that had the Astrotrain.

I feel like Donut is so harsh for Ops Weyland / CI that I want to leave him in there (for the lulz), but I also lost a game because I couldn't dig fast enough, and Ryan's build uses that influence on +1 Motivation, +1 Quality Time, and that's tempting.

You don't need 3 NACH. 2 would be fine. Data Dealer is probably fine to drop unless you expect Jinteki in numbers (Shu-Kyu, Medical Breakthrough), since as it turns out the only reason to sell agendas in this deck is for the lulz.

But then I go back to being unsure about how to beat CI with just one Legwork, so I'm leaning towards -1 NACH, +1 Legwork. My Kingdom for a Motivation tutor.

Open questions:

  1. HBFA / CI: What's the best approach to these nuts? The Source put in major, major work vs. NBN; but it is at most a thorn to a Redcoats or ToL based FA build (because NBN ice is... not happy against crypsis + 15+c), whereas HB can build some supremely dickish remotes.
  2. Should I just give up on my dreams of playing Donut against a Weyland or CI player at a tourney and join Ryan in playing a third motivation?
  3. Them Femmes: is there a better option?
  4. Will Weyland players on OCTGN ever learn to not give me bad pub? How much blackmail is too much blackmail?

The only immediate concern I've seen with both iterations of the deck (and this is only because my meta is heavy Astrobiotics at the moment) is that Wraparound is an absolute nuisance for this deck.

You also probably don't need it, and QT + Motivation #3 will probably be stronger, but I wanted to try a Chakana and see how that played out; that with The Source seems absolutely brutal. In theory anyway.

Wraparound is a pain in the ass, but I've only needed to break it a couple of times. It's a good femme target if you need repeated access through it.
