Taxes are due (Single revised core, R&R, Sovereign Sight)

GooberMan 128

This deck was constructed for a friend who only decided a couple of days ago to get in to Netrunner, and thus I've constructed some decks with what's at hand (Single revised core, R&R, Sovereign Sight). Published for their benefit.

There's three basic HB archetypes you'll encounter in Netrunner: Glacier; Combo; and Fast Advance. This one comprises the latter.

Fast Advance is a pretty straightforward strategy. Rather than taking multiple turns to advance out an agenda, you want to get them out in one. There's two major tricks in this deck to do that.

Biotic Labor is the in-faction trick. For one click to play the card and four credits, you get two clicks back. Do this on your first click of your turn, and you now have four clicks remaining. That's enough to install-advance-advance-advance-score a 3/1 or a 3/2 agenda! Nice!

The out-of-faction trick is Calibration Testing. And this is where using Asa's ability comes in to it. Install a 3/1 or 3/2 in a remote server, then immediately use Asa's ability to install a Calibration Testing in the same server. Advance the agenda twice. Then, before your turn ends, rez Calibration Testing for 3 credits. Trigger its trash ability and place an advancement counter on your agenda. Score your agenda. Noice.

If only it were that easy though.

Project Vitruvius is something you want to over-advance at least once. Why? Because when it's over-advanced, you can use that counter on it to get a Biotic or a Calibration back in to your hand. Recursion!

Ikawah Project is a 5/3 agenda, which either you need a lot of money to fast advance (two Biotics and a Calibration would do it in one turn, but that's a lot of pieces to hold in your hand) or you need to get tricksy. And this is where you need to start creating scoring windows. How? By taxing the runner's resources.

Install-advance-advance a Hyperloop Extension. They'll think it's an Ikawah. Then rez all your disgusting taxing ice. Drain their account by forcing them to use their icebreakers. Let them steal it, you get money anyway. Then on the next turn, install that Ikawah. If you've done the math, they won't be able to get back in.

Unless they have a sneaky Stimhack.

So use your backup tricks.

Have a scored False Lead? If they run on their second click, forfeit it in the paid ability window right before the run is successful. Suddenly they don't have the clicks to steal Ikawah. This can combo with Strongbox if they run on first click, but don't rely on it since there's only one copy.

Now that they're broke, it would have been the perfect time to install an Ash in that server with that Ikawah install. Rez in that same ability window and watch their best ohshi- face.

Already fed the runner a couple of 1 pointers? Giordano emphasises that being broke is bad for the runner.

And then there's that Agressive Secretary. Bluffing is a big part of the corp's strategy, and this is a good tool for it. Threaten it like an Ikawah. Watch them run in. And boom. Trash their precious icebreakers. Two copies of that card in this deck would work, but you only have one core.

You need to be rich enough to score all this. So protect your Adonis until they pay out. And protect your PAD Campaigns, 1 credit a turn for free is great. Protip: rez these cards in the paid ability window before your turn begins. Do not rez them at any other time as it's a waste of money and ruins the bluffing aspect. Then get fat cash on the start of your turn.

A second core set would allow a second False Lead. This is the most flexible card in your deck - either use it to protect an Ikawah, or use it to rez an Archer. Which, with your card pool, is a disgusting piece of ice for the runner. Put two copies of Archer in. It will create scoring windows for you.
