Nu "Titan", or "My Unofficial Retirement From Tournaments"

MagicHead 73

Dear viewer, do you miss Titan? Do like making money? Do you like blowing poor runners off the face of the Earth while you (typically) score out with no remote? Then this deck is (maybe) the deck for you!

To The Moon

I love fast advance out of Weyland, my local meta know that I love me some advanceable ICE, and I also love the idea of slotting a kill package around a FA deck (à la the Coattails decks of yesteryear (props to Ghost Meat for that nugget).

I've been having a blast with Built To Last since it came out, and after having played almost exclusively Startup since then, I thought I'd retool my Startup list for Standard ahead of the Asia/Pacific Continentals this weekend. Cue my decision that has been a number of years in the making, to unofficially retire from competitive level Netrunner; I just can't handle the stresses involved in playing in the tournament scene, and I end up dropping plays left, right, and centre.

I think I'll stick to TOing, at least that gives me an excuse for placing low😅.

Call within the next 10 minutes, and we'll throw in a "How To" book absolutely free.

The basics of the deck are to:

  • install and advance the things (ICE, NGO, and if you're feeling bold an agenda or three (I scored an unprotected Global Food Initiative (GFI) twice!)).
  • make money by advancing everything and playing operations.
  • try and keep the threat of Hard-hitting News (HHN) live.

If the Runner slips, you blow them To The Moon (my original working title for the deck).

Now the scoring can be super weird and convoluted, most can let you advance your 3/2s, but when combined, you can pull some neat tricks:

  • Audacity
  • Trick of Light (ToL)
  • Dedication Ceremony into Reconstruction Contract.

With these you can score 5-7 of your agendas from hand (this includes Hostile Takeover).

Now the ICE isn't going to do a super good job of keeping the Runner out late game, but it serves its purpose:

  • tagging the the Runner (Mausolus, Colossus)
  • disruption (Mausolus, Colossus)
  • advancing the things (Ahket)
  • making money (Hortum, Mausolus, Ahket).

Hortum can fetch your kill or FA pieces if triple advanced, and Macrophage and mess up runners that rely on viruses.

Now the real science that I've found from playing this is what ICE to advance, and what to Trick of Light advancements from:

  • If you have two or more advancements on a rezzed Hortum, Mausolus, or to a lesser degree Colossus, you can safely Trick the advancements off as the Runner will most likely not let you fire the subs once triple advanced.
  • The difference with Colossus is that it gets increased strength so that one you need to play on a case by case basis on how the Runner can deal with it (PS Boomerang makes him cry).
  • Ahket is always a good option to triple advance, as it can let you place more advancements (for ToL) and give you money, and it gets a nice strength boost.

Pay by Credit Card, and we'll give you an additional set of tools for 0.99.

The rest of the deck is pretty straight forward:

  • Cyberdex (Suite and Sandbox) and Macrophage for virus hate (and maybe money).
  • Spin Doctor for draw and recursion (looking at combo pieces, kill pieces, and agendas where needed).
  • Preemptive Action for recursion (looking at combo pieces, kill pieces, and agendas where needed).
  • Consulting Visit to fetch kill pieces.
  • Archived Memories for whatever you need on the fly (Note: it can telegraph what you're looking to do for the next turn or two, so just bear that in mind).

splosion

In closing, while this deck is probably no where near as good as a Titan deck with kill package, it's a blast to play, and I've had a lot of good feedback from most of the players that have gone up against it as far as it being interesting and the like.
