Nasir's Roots

BTrain 2971

I've been playing Nasir almost exclusively since Upstalk released, and while I've been seeing decent results here and there, I've never been happy with the lack of consistency from the decks I've put together. Nasir's Fast Break was on the right track, but with 25 individual cards in the deck, seeing what you needed when you needed was a rarity.

So I stripped that deck down to its core. Any tricks, gimmicks, combos, set-ups, they're all gone. Nasir's ability gets worse as the game goes on (whether that knocks him out as a "viable runner" is a conversation for another time), so he needs a deck that can capitalize on the early game and the early-mid game.

The one thing I'm not entirely happy with is the lack of HQ multi-access in a global meta rife with NEH, though I think that might be mitigated to a degree once Astrolabe drops. It won't serve as a hard-counter, but it will help you up the aggression earlier in the game, so it's an indirect trade.

Let me know what you think.

@BTrain How...does astrolabe help with HQ multi-access? Also: ugh, spinal modem...

The rest of the deck looks solid.

Maybe as an alternative, we should try the Stimshop route with Nasir? There's a Dallas Stimshop variant of Kate running around OCTGN that might be decent with our favorite Cyber Explorer. :)

@CJFMIt helps in just the way I mentioned above. It's not a one-to-one counter against NEH but played early, it will reduce the amount of time it takes for you to be able to start mercilessly pounding away by finding earlier tutors, earlier Imps, earlier breakers, earlier money. NEH is a fragile deck that is at its best when it outpaces you so keeping up with it can really level the playing field.

And I'll look into that Dallas Stimshop build.

While I do think it is a decent replacement for Akamatsu, I've found that NEH doesn't really even need to make many servers. They'll probably just make one or two, so it draws you two cards. That's not bad, but if they wanted they could play around it and just biotic in a San San. It combos well with Parasiting ICE, too. I guess you mean it helps you find the breakers to get into HQ. Yes, it does that.

Order of Sol, though. That's a card I want for Nasir. It's going straight into my Despo build.

Really like this setup, incredibly straight forward and potentially back breaking for the early game. Tempted to try and find room for one MO just so you have a tutoring economy option early doors. I may drop 1 kati for 1 MO. Other than that it looks pretty damn perfect.
