Earworm (Haarpsichord Fast Advance)

donttalknojive 103

First deck - third draft. Limited selection (1 core set, Cyber Exodus, and Old Hollywood)

The concept here is pretty simple. Use fast advance strategies to push through the small agendas as quickly as possible. An Offer You Can't Refuse, Tollbooth, and Pop-Up Window help you to make sure you have enough small change to fuel your rapidly expanding media empire.

Waiting on reprint for Opening Moves, so Howard is out - but if you can think of any other cards that would suit the concept well - let me know!

There was an alternate version which played with some tag punishment and precognition to control the tempo a bit, but the idea with this version is to just play and advance. Junebug should help to punish being too cavalier about blind runs.

I'm a bit unclear on Offer You Can't Refuse in this deck, it seems like there isn't much to punish the runner for actually running -- so why wouldn't they just run?

I admit, it's weird. Unlike most decks that run An Offer You Can't Refuse, I actually expect them to run. I am not worried about punishing their run, I want to be rewarded for their passing my ice. Pop up window and matrix help close out the game by pushing agendas or prepping a junebug to kill as quickly as possible.

Problem with Pop-up in that scenario is that they can just decline to pay the 1 on the first Pop-Up Window and let it end the run, so you paid 4 and a click to gain 1 credit back.

I guess Offer works as a weird sort of FA on an Award Bait server - either you get 2 advancements for your Astro or an agenda point - but it's still letting them grab an agenda on your turn, which isn't great for Haarpsichord.

Scratch that, forgot Offer is centrals only. Yeah I don't really think Offer works here :P

Awesome. Thanks for the feedback! I see what you mean about the minimal gain. I was thinking running through matrix and popup gets me a free advance, but that's not so big an advantage that I should include this card over others. I'll revisit for another draft. Thanks!
