An Exploration of Throwback format: Navi Mumbai Drone Trust

I'm going to be posting a decklist a day looking at the interesting side of Throwback Format deckbuilding.

Now please feel free to stick 3x Account siphon into your reg 419 or Caprice Nisei into your Jinteki Glacier but if you could just wake me up afterwards from the coma inducing slumber you have put me in due to your unimaginative deckbuilding!!

Today, after a couple of days off I have officially lost count of which deck we are on so we just ask Why No Batty? with:

Throwback Card: Scorpios Defense Systems

Maybe Scorpios isn't quite as evil now with Hunter Seeker out of the picture (another very worthy Throwback choice!) but it has got several new toys thanks to its friends at Nisei!

Firstly an agenda suite that it just pure evil! SDS + Divested trust makes a horrendous situation for any runner without a good handful of spare programs to throw away. If you can score out the Divested trusts early you are probably laughing all the way to the bank. The rest of the agenda suite points are made up of GFI's making it close to impossible to win without stealing at least one SDS. Standoffs are there for rezzing Tithoniums + Archers

The other toy it got given with Trebuchet - A rig shooters dream ICE considering it lets you trash ANYTHING!

Quick run down of the rest of the Ice suite choices:

*Border Control + lack of Code Gates = Protection against Engolo - the most common problem for Rig Shooter currently

*Swordsman & Hortum = Ai Hate

*2x Tithonium = Parasite/Chisel defense (The bulwark could totally be a 3rd Tithonium)

*Sapper - Cheap to Rez and can be valuable for its access ability.

*Spiderweb = Makes Boomerang sad (only 1 as there is so much boomerang hate already in this deck)

*Jua - Pure jank but can be great against Shapers & Anarchs

*Archer - Because it's Archer!

So lets talk about the biggest think 'missing' here: 3x Marcus Batty????

Although it makes so much 'sense' and 'good decks' will tell you otherwise - I think this deck already feels NPE enough to play against - Losing a batty psi game in a deck like this will likely lose you the game, and I don't enjoy decks that roll on that much chance.

Navi Mumbai City grid is a far more 'fun' option giving protection against a whole host of common problems for Rig Shooter - Boomerang, SMC, Simulchip, Logic bomb, Grappling Hook, Pelangi, Artist Colony even Data sucker and Flip Switch!

Scorp has some excellent advantages in the modern meta my favorites being:

Boomerang: think that rang's coming back? I don't think so!

Zero: A key draw engine of many Anarchs - becomes pretty scary when anything gone could be RFG'd

Bin Breakers: Lets take away that efficiency and safety net of installing from the bin - a way around Scorps 1ce a turn ability is obviously to mass draw and discard lots of breakers in one go, that's what you have ark lockdown for!

You will lose to Turntable pretty hard here - If you're worried about it drop the standoffs and the archer - I did consider Wake up call but there's probably not enough to trash to reliably get it to land.

Leela is also gonna be a tricky matchup due to the agenda suite. luckily she's often on few excess programs so the late game becomes much tickier for her if she doesn get an SDS early.
