Classic Andromeda (London SC 1st place)

iainreid 78

  • Won London Store Championship (62 players)
  • Also piloted by Kranse to win Chicago Store Championship (31 players)

A fairly standard Andromeda Datasucker build, you've seen these before right?

Not a lot to say, but a few points. Crypsis is still good as a backup breaker, especially with program destruction (often targetting Criminals) being quite common. It's old skool, and not very fashionable these days, but Crypsis still gets the job done.

Planned Assault is usually an Inside Job, but sometimes can morph into a Legwork or Account Siphon. It allows a little bit of flexibility.

Mr. Li isn't as economical as John Masanori but allows for more precise draws, as well as more confidence when facechecking. Both are good, but you probably only need one.

Feedback Filter is for Cambridge PE. Go read this for more info on how to use it.

Stay cool.

Few questions since you are one of the few Classic Andy decks left here. :) -What do you think of Earthrise? I switched from 3x Li to 3x Earthrise and regretted it fast. Just went way too slow and was often left digging for breakers or in just awkward money/hand situations.

  1. Have you ever considered 3x Li? I know 2x has been the common wisdom but I really like 3x because you can just Li out of the other two (ideally) and you're really locking it down.

  2. Run into any issues with Yog? Lotus is very prevalent in my games so I run Gordian, but that means I can't run loose tech like FF (I use Infiltration instead) and don't get those Yog cost savings.

  3. Anything in the last few packs (including O&C) even remotely appealing to you? I have to say no for me, unless I wanted to make the full switch to stealth.

Andromeda Sucker is pretty malleable. You can smash a few cards here and there, to better match them to either your own playstyle or the meta and that is still fine.

I used to use 3x Mr Li. He's great. But you don't always need to play him, either in rush games or games where you draw good anyway, and in such an instance, that's more dead cards. With 3x, drawing 2 in your starting hand is much more likely. Having said that, I lost a game in London that I might have won had I drawn him early, but generally 3x is hurting your good draws a lot more than it buffs your weak draws.

The choice of both Fractor and Decoder is one of the biggest choices the deck has to make. If you are seeing a lot of Lotus Field (and on remotes), then Yog is pretty much no good. I've run Zu a lot. It's good... but expensive in the long games. Rex also can run out of steam. Gordian is good also, but pricey influence wise. You really want to get 2x Corroder if you can, so anything that hurts that is a tough pill.

In terms of recent packs, Andromeda Datasucker is a bit of a "shark", meaning that there isn't much evolution left, assuming we don't see power creep. So its unlikely that new packs will offer much other than better Decoders or in-faction Fracters. (Though Utopia Shard is good too). But that's OK. You can always move sideways into parallel Andromeda builds such as Andromeda Stealth or Andromeda Data Folding if you want more variety.
