HB Ambush

I’m guessing I’m not the first person to think of this, but with the release Mushin No Shin I though I’d test out a HB ambush deck. The idea is any card you advance (or especially Mushin No Shin) could be a Mandatory Upgrades which opens options. Plus you know the idea of scoring a Mandatory Upgrades in two turns for 3 creds just seemed like something I’d like to try ;)

Anyway this deck is very much a rough draft at this point and any opinions on how to spend the remaining influence, change the ice mix or change to the deck in general are welcome.

I'd try to get some Trick of Lights in there. The synergy is so good with Mushin and just provides great flexibility for scoring 3/2's. Even if you never manage to get off a mandatory upgrades, having multiple ways to score out of hand is nice. (-2 Wraparound, -1 Junebug, +2 Trick of Lights)

ICE:

  • Maybe Fenris over Roto? Not sure how bad pub would effect this deck without testing. Also, not sure how effective Fenris is now that HB Brain Damage decks are much more of a 'thing' now. Runners may not recklessly first click face check HB ICE anymore. Although, sometimes just seeing a Fenris on an access or even with a Sentry breaker out will give most runners a moment of pause the next time you Mushin out a card.
  • May also consider some more bigger ICE. Maybe drop the Wall of Statics for 1 or 2 Heimdalls?

Just realized, you could alternatively, replace those Cerebral Overwriters with Aggressive Secs. Then you could maybe stick with your Roto's and not have to worry about bad pub (didn't see you had NAPD).

Not sure if you would need 3 Agg Secs though... Getting one off could be enough. Anyways, I've been tinkering with HB decks and H&P cards too, might test out a similar build.
