Bubbles, Jaguar Gin & Sharks: A winning deck from a past SU

This is my winning corp deck from Netbrummers Startup 2nament: It's the second one so has no real utility now that Start Up has rotated. But it’s nice to look back on my first tournament and the decks I chose to bring.

I went undefeated with both my corp and runner, both of which I’d put together myself and because I had just started playing, I thought to myself “oh my, you must have stumbled upon absolute gold here!” and consequently didn’t publish the decklists.

Oh, sweet summer child I was. Looking back, both decklists are far from well-tuned and far from original but they do say a lot about what I found exciting about the game when I first started. I remember the absolute glee I found from stacking three Mr. Hendrik (the gin) in one server and baiting the runner into it.

Compared to the other corp IDs and archetypes, this deck really made me feel like an evil corp. Screw efficiency, careful planning, econ management I loved the rush of ruining a runner’s day and then flatlining them.

The corp decks I’ve played since might have a bit more nuance than this one, but at the end of the day if a corp deck doesn’t make me feel evil I’m still not interested. You can keep your PDs, I’ll always have a special place for Thule in my heart.
