My attempt at a GRNDL deck. So far it's doing fine on OCTGN. I've played around with a variant that removes the 3 snares to gain influence to replace the 2 Hadrian's walls by 2 Flares. Then I add 2 Elizabeth Mills and a Subliminal Messaging to fill the deck (I love that card.) I haven't tried that variant much yet but I'm curious to see how it does.
That deck has a really solid economy and is able to quickly build a remote where it can score agendas. Snares, SEA Source, Scorched Earth and Punitive Counterstrikes also provide a threat that tends to slow down the runner and make him careful.

Interesting. And what do you think about Flare in a GRNDL deck? It takes up precious influence but will usually be a surprise. Dealing 2 dmg (+1 with the cleaners scored) and destroy a plastcrete can really hurt the runner! Also at first I had more big ice but even with the 10 starting credits it seemed that sometime I would struggle a bit to rez enough defenses early which in turn brought me quickly in the mid to late game where a deck with bad pub starts to suffer. You might be right though that I went a bit too high on the small ice count... |
This is the second GRNDL deck that has appealed to me. I like the combination of face punching the Runner with big money. I'll say the same thing that I said in the other deck, this deck screams, "I'm doing bad stuff and must hide it!" Revel in that bad publicity, and don't spare precious card slots on trying to remove the bad publicity.
The Agenda mix seems to be a mix of economy pop and fast advance. This is not a fast advance deck and should not try to masquerade as one. I feel that a better recipe for Agenda density and utility would be:
2x Executive Retreat - Critical card draw for stalls
3x Geothermal Fracking - Account Siphon recovery
2x Profiteering - Huge economy pop
2x The Cleaners - If economy does not need as much Agenda based promotion, then Agenda density can be decreased by replacing one Geothermal Fracking and 1 Profiteering with 1 more The Cleaners
The Asset and Operation mix really fits the theme of this deck. Something tells me that we can drop GRNDL Refinery and Snare! to 2x each instead of 3x, possibly in favor of 2x Dedicated Response Team. Punitive Counterstrike doesn't seem to have a good bang for your buck factor due to the limitation of agenda points stolen on the last turn, and can be safely dropped from the deck to bring this to a sleak 45 cards.
The ICE mix is a good distribution, but I'm seeing the same thing I saw in the other GRNDL deck. You are starting with 10 credits and a powerful economy engine, why spare precious card slots on low strength ICE that will only get broken by bad publicity credits? The only low strength ICE that I would consider for a GRNDL deck is Ireress just due to the synergy with bad publicity. I would also take Swarm over Grim due to the additional utility and advancability that Swarm brings. If we're willing to ditch Snare entirely, a single Wotan would love this deck, but I'm not sure if that's a smart move overall. With all of that in mind, here's the ICE that I would use here:
