Prepaid's Last Hurrah

Duxmar 178

First in swiss, fourth overall at Chaos Games store championship January 31st 2016. I include the date, because this was an unusual cardpool, as the MWL wasn't required until February and Kala Ghoda was released on January 28th, this weekend and others on the same weekend were the only ones to have a full pre-paid Kate plus the new stuff. This deck was undefeated in swiss, its only loss in the top cut when I ran turn three into a Snare double DRT flatline.

This deck has a remarkable number of ways to win. Round one was typical Shaper multi-access plus clot beating an HB fast advance, Round two was a surprise hades shard catching four points in archives with a rezzed Jackson on board. Round three was clot plus same old legwork. Round four was the best, though as I went against a Spark Glacier, he had a rezzed SanSan, an Astro counter, and five points to my four, when I was able to maker's eye into two points, and notoriety to get the win.

I think shaper decks like these have the draw to make one-ofs viable, as I was able to draw through most of my deck in every match-up. The Maya was key to keep flexibility, as two memory for an effective two cost in Kate is amazing. Artist colony was used to sell 15 min for a bashful pre-paid, and I outlined my other two flex cards above (Notoriety was mainly there for the food coats matchup, so I only had to score 3 agendas as well, and Hades for the surprise archives play)

The breaker suite is standard prepaid Kate, with David over the parasite, data-sucker combo, and I had great success with Study Guide in this deck. Early it plays a similar role as the Zu.13 in standard builds, being somewhat cheap to install, and deal with low end codegates, but using Cyber-Cypher on key servers. By late game you will either have amassed enough money or found your Stimhack to make it a super torch (take that crick, and Archangel) to save D4vid counters for big sentries. Very happy with the deck and how it performed on the day

...now if only someone would convince me to stop running blind servers against DRT decks.
