Desperation CtM

Have you seen this man

I've been a bit down on Corp since Rotation, although there have been decks that were fun to play. But especially after the aggressive removal of "unfair" decks with Bogg's last MWL and from NISEI, there were not much Corp decks that I really thought stand a chance against the best Runner decks.

Due to this, I took a break from the game with its official end. When I came back for Domecon, the omnipresence of Crowdfunding made the overall Runner-Corp balance even worse. It has been restricted since, but it's included in a lot of strong Runner decks nevertheless - for good reason. With those decks in mind I tried to build an enjoyable Corp deck, but nothing really clicked. In the end I kinda resorted to CtM on the basis that if I have to play a weak Corp anyway, I can at least play a weak Corp I like. The restriction of Commercial Bankers Group has killed all the CtM lists I enjoyed before my break, but Daily Quest (a card I initially underestimated a lot) might actually breathe new life into it. This is my latest version of Downfall CtM decks, and it's the first where I managed to win against the likes of Stabby Maxx and Net Tap crims. I will probably still lose to those decks in the hands of a really good player, but I think I will lose to really good players anyway on the basis that I'm just a mediocre player. ;)

As the Smoke deck I published earlier, this deck has not placed high (or was even played) in anything. I have played it purely on JNet so far, where it has done well - but who knows what that means. I don't particularly like the current meta, and publishing decks is my poor attempt to shift it in a direction I like more. So if you don't feel like playing the Weyland lottery and think Mti is a powerful, but kinda stupid ID that probably should not exist, maybe I have a deck for you.

At it's core, this is very close to the American CtM: Jam Kitties and GFIs behind Ravens, make money, hit hard. But as I'm already publishing, I take the chance to discuss some cards:

Wraparound I like better than Resistor or IP Block in this deck (and meta). It provides a crucial hard ETR for protecting an early Daily Quest, it's annoying to break for both Aumakua and Engolo (without Fractor support), and can actually open scoring windows after a purge against GPI decks that rely on Turtle too much.

SIU is in the deck against non-run Runners. It was a SEA Source once, which serves a similar purpose against Shapers, but against certain Runner nonsense (Gravedigger and Gang Sign decks) it's crucial to have a tagging option that doesn't require the Runner to actually run. Remember that The Black File is a resource and can be trashed if the Runner is tagged.

Lady Liberty is one of the best scoring options CtM has right now. If you can play "on curve" early (as the Hearthstone players would say), you can jump to 6 points in 3 turns, and then probably win with a QPM behind a Raven.

Daily Quest requires to be protected by ICE, and is the main reason I selected the ICE suite currently present in the deck. It's harder to fire than Bankers, but if you do, you get the same result. Sometimes you can get away with protecting them with Virtual Tours instead, but I can not really recommend that. I also don't recommend mulligan for them, as you need to have both a Quest and an ICE to make them work. Having a DBS and a Marilyn campaign (or Rashida) in your starting hand is better in most cases.

No Psychographics because of slots. No 15 Minutes because I value both AR-Enhanced Security and Quantum Predictive Model higher. No Remastered Edition because this deck has no real good way of scoring it, and it doesn't work with Lady Liberty.

Go yellow cards!

Team Sponsorship and Lady Liberty anti-synergy tho :(
