Day One RwR Theorycrafting: Nuvem PD

Gobbet 1

First R&R deck, so why not be brave and make it public? When Nuvem was spoiled I swore I was going to make rush Nuvem work. This is my day one attempt at doing that. Read on for my ramblings about this untested 54 card pile.

The theory I'm working with is that you can play Nuvem as a sort of Weyland-flavored PD. Generate massive econ by trashing your deck, use that econ to fast advance agendas, then fetch your fast advance tools back from archives and do it all over again.

Here's the theoretical gameplan:

  • Spend the first few turns setting up ice and playing operations that net you money. Trigger Nuvem's ability in order to gain some additional credits and start filling up archives.

  • Put a lot of advancement tokens on a piece of ice. There are a few ways to do this, but i think the most viable one is to rez Logjam and then expend Tree Line.

  • Start scoring out behind your advanced ice. if you're lucky, you've got five advancement counters on a piece of ice and can use red planet couriers to never-advance a 5/3. Otherwise, between audacity and Slash n' Burn you've got fast-advance tools coming out your ears.

Other Notes:

  • I'm not a great deckbuilder and none of this is tested, so this deck might just be complete jank. I think the concept behind it is absolutely workable, however.

  • I'm convinced that The Basalt Spire may in fact be one of the wildest cards from the new set. Because Nuvem is constantly trashing, you should be able to fetch whatever fast advance or economy tools you need out of archives, regardless if it's scored or stolen. it's like your own personal PD.

  • We're running Hortum because Mulch is going to be everywhere. We can dump 3 advancement counters on it fairly easily if Audrey appears, otherwise it's useful because it can end the run.

  • Between Spin Doctor and Descent, you have a ton of ways to keep your agendas safe and manipulate them to where you want.

  • The deck's backup plan is to dump your Basalt spire into archives, then explode the runner with an archived punitive counterstrike once they steal it. You probably already knew that though.

I've only played one game with this deck but had a great time, so many interesting lines! Have you thought about losing the Balanced Coverages for Planograms? Feels like it can give a little more consistency, which you need in a 54 card deck

@chordgang Predictive planogram would absolutely be a better include. Balanced Coverage has been too slow in my experience, and the deck needs some card draw.

The main problem I've run into is red planet couriers. It's a good victory condition, but I think it's not reliable for every agenda. Maybe seamless launch instead?
