Three Steps v1.1

SnarkAttack 44

Step 1 - Play this deck

Step 2 - ???

Step 3 - Profit

A homebrew Los I've been working on that ended up looking like a combination of Leela and Gabe. Get rich early, Siphon them into the ground, and then just control the tempo of their ICE rezes. Explanation of some of the choices below:

Econ Package:

  • Security Testing is great for Los. If there's no open server, pick a server with some asset in it and ICE in front and go. They lose either way, as long as you aren't dead at the end.

  • Desperado is really good.

  • Temüjin is even better.

Derez stuff:

  • Emergency Shutdown is obvious synergy with Los, letting you get the rez money twice, and the second time you know exactly what you need to get through (if that's the plan).

  • Forged Activation Orders can give you a chance to get the rez bonus without faceplanting into something nasty, buying you a setup turn while keeping your ability firing, or stripping their servers when they're poor.

  • Exploit is the Sex Panther of the deck. Doesn't fire most games, but when it does, you can see the sadness in their eyes. But mostly you end up tossing this away. Shame.

  • Crescentus is nice for any problem/expensive ICE, and you'll have the memory for it.

Multiaccess:

  • R&D Interfaces because they should be so dirt poor you can walk in and see their stuff before they can. Besides, everyone wants to protect HQ from you anyway, so take the path less defended.

  • Turning Wheel because I have a soft spot for this card, and sometimes HQ accesses are nice.

Breakers:

  • Corroder because I don't let Paperclip hang around in the bin ever, and most of the barriers around right now are gearcheck at best. Plus we can run 2.

  • Gordian and Passport. God damn code gates.

  • Mongoose is good enough, plus it's blue.

Other Nonsense:

  • Interdiction is a poor man's Rumor Mill, and no one sees it coming. This can be something else if you want, but I feel like you really do need a current nowadays.

  • Pol Op makes Off The Grid decks sad (if you get them down in time), and Off The Grid decks make me angry. Plus it's good for other stuff. More or less if you feel the need.

Final Thoughts: Be aggressive, and don't let the Corp feel comfortable EVER. Los' ability gives him money for a fundamental Corp action, and your tempo is just a little bit faster than they expect. Hit them where they hurt WHEN they hurt and you're good.

Very enjoyable deck with a lot of moving parts to counter the corp. draw is a little slow so i added one more hotel, without removing anything else.

Have you considered running a rook to make rezzing ice more punishing for the corp and to make forged activation orders more painful?

@Pantacruel Yeah, the draw is one of the more painful aspects of this deck. I play a lot of Criminal, so I'm a little used to it (and I have an irrational fear of 46 card decks), but I can see that being as a strong addition if you aren't seeing what you need fast enough.

@ZergGuardian Actually, I had considered it, which is something I never thought I'd say about Rook.

Everything that follows is pure conjecture, since I haven't tested with either of these cards.

Personally, I feel like it would be a little clunky as another program, the way it moves is awkward, and your opponent can just trash the ICE it's on and then it's gone. But my biggest issue with it is that I like to be able to quickly pivot in my attacks, and I feel like Rook's click to move is wasting the tempo Los gives you. If I was going to splash an "increase Rez cost" effect, I think I'd prefer Xanadu. Same influence, costs 1 more, but works on every server all the time, even if the effect isn't quite as strong.

I do like the general idea of an "increase rez cost" card, I'm just not sure what I'd be happy cutting to fit one in.
