Due to a number of prison / potato decks running around the local meta, I had to cut an Aaron, a Councilman, and a Medium to pack in 2 Feedback Filters and a Turning Wheel.
Went 3 - 1 during the event. Wins were against HB: EtF, HB: AoT, and Jinteki: PU. The single loss was against a SYNC boom deck which locked me out of servers, denying Temujin money until HHN eventually brought about my demise.
Round 1 vs. HB: EtF (Win)
Bernard decides to leave his centrals wide open on turn 1, choosing to ice up a remote and install what i assume are sexbots behind it. I don't have Siphons in my opening hand anyway, so i just temujin HQ, and Dirty Laundry it, sniping an agenda.
Pol. Op. manages to keep a second Adonis from supporting Bernard's econ while Aaron makes Siphoning through a NEXT Bronze and Silver that much better. Bernard still manages to rez a SanSan to FA out a couple of agendas, but i finally manage to steal my last agenda from his hand after a few expensive pokes at R&D. Breaking FC3.0 with a Passport is painful. Even when you're floating 20+ creds.
Round 2 vs. HB: AoT (Win)
Zahir starts with the regular opening of ice HQ, ice R&D, and econ. I have a Siphon in my starting hand, but am loath to play it blindly, since he could still rez the ice on R&D. I luck out after a couple of draws, and play Employee Strike on turn 2, leading up to a turn 3 Siphon through an Eli. At this point, I'm going tag-me, but still install various resources to build up my econ as well as farm Turning Wheel counters
A couple of snipes at R&D yield agendas, while Zahir manually creds up and builds a scoring server. More Siphons keeps his credit count low enough for me to bust through his scoring remote, beat an Ash trace, and steal a Sales Team.
Zahir gets up to 8 creds after a few fruitless pokes at R&D, and decides to spend a whole turn trashing a Daily Casts, Kati Jones, and a Turning Wheel with six counters. It was then that his R&D decided to give up the last agenda for me to take the game.
Round 3 vs. Jinteki: PU (Win)
The matchup that I've been dreading. Criminals having no in-faction recurring is why i packed Feedback Filter. But are 2 copies overkill?
I start out by installing Gordian and Mongoose in the first couple turns, saving them from net damage, but draining my economy. I gain some of them back with Siphons, but an early Bio-Ethics and Hostile Infrastructure are already chewing through my deck. Trashing them just got Jon to Friends them back later.
After a couple turns, i manage to snipe a GFI from HQ and also a Fetal from an unprotected R&D, but Jon also manages to set up 2x Bio-Ethics and 2x Hostile Infrastructures for his board state. As luck would have it, my first Feedback Filter gets trashed off the top of my stack, and I'm starting to get desperate. I furiously draw for my second FF over the course of a couple of turns, and finally manage to install it, but with about 10 creds left.
I keep paying 6 bucks each turn just to avoid net damage. Security testing + Desperado helps a bit with tanking the damage, but I'm still drawing for more econ to stabilize.
This went on until time, in which Jon concedes the game to me, as i was ahead of him in agenda points 4 - 0.
Round 4 vs. SYNC (Loss)
The sole loss for Andy came from SYNC Boom. My econ was ground to a halt thanks to IP Blocks and Data Hounds. Mongoose isn't too efficient at breaking them at 5 creds a pop. It doesn't help that Wei Chun uses Targeted Marketing to call out Temujin, while playing a buttload of Restructures.
Lacking any semblance of patience eventually gets me hit with Hard Hitting News, and then Boom!ed the following turn. But it's tough to earn creds when all your econ is run-based, and the opponent is all glacier-ed up.
Final Thoughts
Gordian Blade will definitely be replaced with Abagnale when Terminal Directive comes out. Or even Peregrine might do it for the moment. With the spare influence, i'd slot in Mimic and either another Datasucker or Net-Ready Eyes.
Aaron definitely needs to go back up to at least 2 copies. Pol. Op. didnt do much except trash a single Adonis in the whole event. Femme and Datasucker weren't used either, and hopefully, prison / potatoes decks will be out of style by the next event. Deus knows i need my 2 influence back.
