Exposing the Game v2

Playtest 2: 04-10-18

0-2 on the second day, playing against Assest Spam CI and Titan FA. More thoughts.

-Still haven't had the chance to use Leave No Trace. I want to like it, but it seems situational, and I am considering cutting it for what needs to come next.

-DRRRRAAAAWW!!!!!! Seminar or Career Fair/Earth Rise will be heading into the next update. Will work well with Daily Casts as well.

-Special Order is a classic staple of most Crim decks since the ol' days. However, I feel spoiled by SMC/Consp Breakers ability. Credit Kiting is in heavy consideration. All breakers cost 4 Credits (with the exception of Turtle).

-Zamba continues to pull it's weight, forcing the Corp to pay one instead of giving you info and credits.

-Interdiction was a good include. It really disrupts the Corps plans when it hits the table. Also using Same Ol' Thing for it is a nice surprise.

-Falsified Credentials works really well. Even if the money doesn't come in, you still get that info.

-Lastly, The Make'rs Eye will be going, mainly because I already have Turning Wheel. That free's up some influence as well. May even replace one Seminar with Diesel, since the INF is there.

-Falsified Credentials works really well. Even if the money doesn't come in, you still get that info.

CURRENT CHANGES CONSIDERED-

-1x Maker's Eye, -2x Leave no Trace, +3 Fisk Investment Seminar

Playtest 1: 04-10-18

Went 2 for 3 on the first day. Not bad overall. Here are some thoughts.

-The corp more often than not lost a credit by not sharing the information. I feel it hurt mostly on installing multiple ICE on a server.

-Money is still hard to come by. Rogue Trading is OK. I am thinking of putting Power Tap/Citadel Sanctuary in Place of GPI. Even with a free tag removal, it still may be too click intensive. More testing is required.

-Playing Tapwrm would be great, if it wasn't purged the moment it hits the table. Turtle is a big enough target to purging without it. Sac Con is most likely going in. A little more testing will determine if it will help.

-If Rogue Trading is going out, so will Deuces Wild. That will be influence for 3x Sac Con.

-I REALLY HATE ENDLESS EULA!!!

-Mad Dash pulls it's weight, despite the lack of Indexing.

-Considering Falsified Credentials for Dirty Laundry. When Turtle hits the table, Archives is almost instantly covered. FC won't require a run, and is cheaper to play.

-May need to bump Leave no Trace up to 3x. Didn't see it in all 3 games.

-GPI will likely go. Not quite good enough to keep around. Daily Casts will fit nicely here I think.

-Draw Power is still the biggest issue in Criminal. (Duh.) Considering Blockade Runner or Laguna (Pending INF changes) after 2nd Playtest.

CURRENT CHANGES CONSIDERED-

-3x Dirty Laundry, +3 Falsified Credentials -3x Deuces Wild, +3x Sac Con -2x Rogue Trading and -2x GPI Net Tap, +3x Daily Casts, +1x Interdiciton

Original deck notes. Updates continue further down. (Last update 04-17-18)

When 419 was first spoiled, I was super excited to build a deck around his ability. With the release of The Devil and the Dragon, and all of its splendid glory, the time has finally come. The deck hasn’t been tested yet, and is still rough around the edges. But, I think it is an excellent deck so far. Here are some of my thoughts.

419: Since the beginning of the game, information has kind of been a big deal. It can easily make or break games for even the most skilled players. 419 gives you that information, or punishes the Corp for not giving it to you. While one credit may not be a big deal at first, it will add up over time, especially with the addition of a certain reprint. I feel that 419 will shine in the early and late game. But, the biggest reward is “Oooh, what’s that?” Yes, the Corp can play around it a little, but they are still going to give you that info, or pay no to. Win-Win for you. Criminal still has some early game tricks, and is capable of building up for a strong late game. When building this deck, I felt it was important to make sure that you take advantage of his ability, without going overboard on the Expose effect. When covering the cards in the deck, I will skip over the usual suspects (Gamble, Peace, Paperclip etc.)

Events:

  1. Deuces Wild – Originally, I built this with Build Script. A credit and two cards was probably going to the most efficient basic draw card I could get for the influence. But, the draw back to another card (Rogue Trading) would cause a bit of a hindrance in the flow. Enter everyone’s favorite un-sleeved hero. Using it after Rogue Trading not only gives the same benefit of Build Script (net 1 credit with two cards), but also lets you remove a tag. No tag? That’s fine. Expose and a free run is always a good thing too. A perfect example: Click 1: Peace for 9 (powers up Tapwrm next turn), Click 2+3: Rogue Trading for 6, Click 4: Deuces for 2 Cards and -1 Tag (off setting its cost). 4 Clicks = 15 Credits, Two Cards and -1 Tag. One turn 15 Credit swing (not including if the Corp lost a credit by not exposing whatever it is they installed) is not a bad turn at all.

  2. The Maker’s Eye – Multi-Access has been more difficult to come by since rotation. But, we all know Multi-Access is the key to victory for Runenrs. While it’s only a one of, it’s backed up by 3x Same Ol’ Thing and Turning Wheel. It’s co-part, Legwork, is a great include, and kind of what Criminal does best.

  3. Leave no Trace – Glacier builds are still a major part of Netrunner. I know it, you know it, we all know it. Seeing a remote with 3+ unknown ICE after the Corp IAA’s an Agenda that they showed you (because they need that credit to rez the behemoths that are going to wreck your day) makes every Runner dread their next turn, as they stare at their credit pool. Playing Leave No Trace will make the Corp think twice about rezzing all those DNA Trackers and Tollbooths. Even if you don’t get the Agenda in the end, making them spend all their money on keeping you out, only to have it derezzed in the end is wonderful. Or, the Corp may choose to just let you have it to save their ever dwindiling credit pool from your unrelenting assault.

Hardware:

  1. Zamba – This console provides 2 MU, supporting all 4 breakers and a Tapwrm, with 1 MU to spare. It’s drip economy style bonus for exposing a Corp card helps round out a damaged Runner Economy since Tapwrm is now Restricted. Exposing is what you will be doing all game, so you might as well get paid for it.

  2. GPI Net Tap – GPI just adds insult to injury. Apply that early game pressure without fear of getting hurt too bad. No more worries when you face check a DNA Trackers, Archer or Tollbooth. It’s a Snitch Lite. You don’t want to get to crazy on facechecking, because this thing goes if you decide to not suffer the consequences.

Programs:

  1. Aumakua - I don’t think I need to say it, but Turtles is going to rock in 419. Much Expose. Very Happy. Wow.

Resources:

  1. Same Ol’ Thing – This really isn’t that big of a deal, but the versatility of being able to recur events, (with the loss of some click efficiency), is really worth it.

  2. Rogue Trading - This card will be the first on the chopping block, depending on how it performs. 2 Clicks for 6 and a Tag isn't too horrible of a deal, if you can find a way to remove the tag well. It's a shame NACH isn't hear anymore. With all the other econ cards, this may be overkill. I want to try it out and find out how it performs.

Possible Changes: These cards can easily be swapped out for the cards in the current list. Influence is very flexible in this deck, and a lot of options are available, depending on your meta.

-Diversion of Funds (mandatory upon release)

-Falsified Credentials

-Spot the Prey

-Drive By

-Fish Investment Seminar

-Councilman

-Sac Con

-Crash Space

-Feedback Filter

-Infiltration

-Daily Casts

-Clot

-Retrieval Run

-Film Critic

-Earthrise Hotel

Overall, I can’t wait to play this. I look forward to seeing what the community thinks.

You get a like right away for taking the time to actually explain your choices and plays rather than just assuming everyone knows what every term means (small hint for everyone else - not everyone knows what you are talking about!).

However... you do talk about cards you dont have in the list. Is there something I am missing?

@lunchmoneyAfter playtesting, the list was tweaked from its original version. The changes are mentioned in the playtest updates. I wanted to show the original idea of the deck, and show its changes over time.

I don't feel that Tapwrm and 419 are good bedfellows. The 'tax' on install to prevent info is going to result in a Corp that is poor more often than rich (in theory). You mention that Tapwrm is getting purged right away especially with Aumakura, so I'm wondering how else it is performing. Do you think there's a better unicorn to go in that slot?

@Sidehatch Tapwrm wasn't performing well without SacCon to back it up. It would aleays be purged way to soon. With Runner Econ being unstable right now, I feel its the best thing to have right now, restricted or not. With Sac Con, its performed much better.

I would consider Film Critic for my unicorn, if I had to swap out Tapwrm.
