The rest of this write-up is unapologetic-ally dry. Read if you want to win games. Or just copy the deck; it doesn't require much analysis to see what's happening. Feel free to skip and upvote for Francis table flip.
This placed first in a massive 6 person SC at the The Last Game Store in Halifax, Canada. The tournament format used was 3 rounds of Swiss with no cut.
This deck had 3 wins, facing off against Geist, Smoke, and Kate. All dead. The Geist and Smoke were pretty vanilla, and Kate died on my second turn, so can't really comment.
Its counterpart in the tournament is here.
No big surprises here; Bryan Stinson is the man. If the runner ever lets themselves drop below 6 credits, they've essentially lost. Keeping up on economy when you can click for 16 credits is impossible.
The important thing to keep in mind with this deck is economic differences. Scoring the majority of the agendas here puts the difference in my favor, whereas the runner attempting to steal them does the same. It's win-win. Play hyper aggressive for the pressure once you have a Consulting Visit or Midseason. The points are irrelevant; it's not gonna end by points unless they're doing DDoS Hyperdriver Kate or something.
If the runner is (intelligently) playing around Bryan, put out a reversed accounts and force them into Bryan range. Either they run to trash it (putting the economic difference in your favor), or they don't (putting the economic difference in your favor).
Hatchet Job to get rid of Film Critic, and also Leprechauns if you end up against DDoS Hyperdriver. You'll have enough money to win the trace.
This deck wants to replace the GFIs with NAPD + Profiteering, but the deck space for it is hard to find. I don't think I'd want to drop ICE, and I know I don't want to drop anything else.
You could consider Argus over BaBW. I was worried about the recent surge of Aaron Marron seeing play, so I felt BaBW giving me that little extra edge was the right call. It didn't matter; I had commanding credit leads in my games.
Couldn't be arsed to find a different meme.

Yeah I didn't do Snatch because of Aaron. Contract as 1x might be the right move, but my only real close game with this deck is against Hyperdriver Kate builds, so I wanted something to slow her game plan down (or crush it entirely). I guess I should've put the order in reverse (the advantage of being in such a small meta is that you kind of have an idea of what people are playing/trying before going into an SC). But you're right, the Film Critic counter is weak with Hatchet Job, moreso just protecting the agenda currently hosted. The deck does have a back-up plan in HHN/RA for dealing with Film Critic though. |

You could use Voter Intimidation to kill Film Critic, since it's also two influence. If you find that runners who install Film Critic are usually able to steal agendas, I'd give it a try. |

Perhaps misleading on my end for listing Film as the first item in the write-up. As mentioned in my previous comment, I know it's a weak Critic answer, but it is not the intended target. A more apt replacement for it would be a single OAI (tutorable with CV), but those Kate's are starting to include Atman to mitigate against that, and my only ICE high enough strength to make it taxing is a single Archer. EBC is another option, but then you can't tutor it and are hoping to find it before she gets online. |
I guess I'm curious what the point of putting Film Critic in the runner's hand with Hatchet Job is. It kinda seems like maybe they'll just... replay it? I guess you might save an agenda that they never scored from it if you also have a Jackson, but that doesn't seem like it solves the real issue with the Critic, which is turning off Midseason's. Snatch and Grab might be a better choice for that, since it has a chance at actually trashing the FC (although Arron Marron shuts that down, and he is kinda everywhere atm), or perhaps Contract Killer.
