Pre-rotation decklist |
I'd been frustrated for a while as my janky but lovable Enby (http://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/12250/enby) has kind of aged out of relevance. Although I knew how to pilot it all kinds of ways, runners sure have more money than they used to, I had no real answer for Clot (shoving in Cyberdex just seemed to break the deck) and I finally had to accept that I needed a more flatline-oriented strategy.
Like lots of folks I really like the Butcher Shop deck (http://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/16988/butcher-shop-v4-1st-place-uncle-s-games-sc-redmond-wa-) but I had some problems adjusting -- I'm not used to the pacing of Melange and feel it's likely to get trashed while I am awaiting a 'safe' period to use it. I also am not a huge fan of Universal Connectivity Fee -- I think Information Overload is a great surprise to execute against a tagged runner, but I couldn't manage two such "surprises". I would rather just run Closed Accounts -- except I think basically with decks like these it's the runner's money before the tags, not after them, that matters.
Importantly I'd become accustomed to baiting runners with one-point agendas and small nuisances, and I rely on being able to do frequent installs so I can draw a lot. I understand that the thinking behind running 3 NAPDs out of NEH is to weaken the runner's econ vs Midseasons, but too often the NAPD ends up just a ticking time bomb lying on my table. Perversely I hate Project "ugh forced to stop my Astro train" Beale, too and would rather see fewer of them, especially if I should be shifting toward more flatline wins.
So this will be an experiment in whether I can become a more lethal and taxing corporation without sacrificing my control over my install space, using small agendas.
I'm not sure if this will be the way to do it; I really miss having my secret all-star Bernice Mai, who instantly makes any server better -- naked two-card remotes are really interesting psychological objects when you're running against NEH, aren't they? -- and in my old deck behind an RSVP she was always a wonderful guard to Jackson. Even by herself she's like a gentle but annoying trap.
And I think Blacklist is just awesome as the runner is generally forced to deal with it. So I'm going to play the deck like this for a while and see how I enjoy it; I don't know if the Traffic Accidents will work so well without the Reclamation Order as in the original Butcher Shop, but I'd like to try.
I also feel like I'll end up experimenting with what it would be like to have 2 Encryption Protocol instead of Predictive Algorithm and 2 RSVP instead of Pups. Then I'd be happy to have a slightly denser agenda mix and a couple more assets/upgrades. Bernice! Heck, there are a lot of tracers in here already, maybe it should be a Making News deck! I don't know anymore! Ha ha ha ha oh man.
I will keep y'all posted!

How's this going for you? I recently got ruined by TGTBT in NEH Butchershop and it really awakened me to how powerful that card is in the deck. Are you getting any murder done?
(also anecdotally, I had the same experience you had with my various NBN taxer decks; they worked like a dream for months and then suddenly a few months ago runners started not having money troubles. I'm not sure which runner card did it for them, but all of a sudden Midseason was a lot harder to land without dedicating your whole deck to it).
