Red Denial v1.0

paddosan 3408

First hypothesis of a Reina Roja "resource denial" deck, centered around the idea of a very expensive rez cost for the Corp's ICE. Even trashing the ICE with a hosted Rook won't work much, since it can be recycled or recovered in three ways: Déjà Vu / Pawn / Clone Chip.
There's also some heavy beating on ICE thanks to FAO / Kraken and Parasite, not to mention a couple Same Old Thing to replay those nice FAO events. In a single turn you could force-trash a couple of ICE pieces, if the Corp is broke.

Economy in this deck is quite powerful thanks to a load of resources, and Professional Contacts plus Public Sympathy should work nice even against Brain and Net Damage.

Knight doesn't convince me entirely, but it's still an Icebreaker with STR 7, and you might eventually need it to pay less when running against some heavy ICE, since Crypsis is quite expensive to use. There's also the risk of Swordman, but since we don't know yet when will it come out... no need to worry yet. Wraparound, on the other hand, only gets to STR 7 anyway, and has STR otherwise, so either Parasite or Knight can take care easily of it.

No Medium to take advantage of an open R&D?

I mainly tried to do something a bit different, but if the deck proves to be too slow, I might add Medium. After all, seeing only one card from R&D or HQ each time can translate in a long game.

Without anything to tutor Medium, though, it could be useless unless I have at least 2/3 copies. At that point, I might have to change a bit more of the deck to accomodate for it.

Well, nice concept, but did you try to put some Emergency Shutdown to force the corp to spend more?

Thanks!

I had a couple ES in the first draft of the deck, but it's always been for me a card that can sit in your grip a long time before becoming useful. So I decided to use the influence differently to allow for Professional Contacts and Clone Chip.

There's also the fact that recently, many players have been using mostly cheap ICE, and when the STR is just 3-4, Parasite seems to be much more effective in putting pressure / damaging the Corp.

why Public Sympathy for Meat/net damage AND Plastecrete? even with 4 clicks of ProContacts is it worth the hand size? How often do you really find yourself at 7 cards in hand? I feel you could trim PubSymp for either Bishops, or even a 3rd SoT and Xanadu (really punish that ice rezing, +4 to rez ouch)

You might be right on that, PC plus PS could be overdoing it. But instead than removing Public Sympathy, I'd rather remove Plascrete Carapace, since it's much more selective (only works against Meat Damage). I use the PubSympathy / ProContacts combination in my deck "Peddling v1.5" (Shaper - Rielle) and it works nicely, especially against Jinteki.

Didn't give much thought about Bishop, though... it could be interesting, especially considering it costs 0 credits. Might be worth a shot, thanks for the input!

have you considered Crescentus? It's a nice addition to Crypsis that can break almost everything but it's very expensive to use. Crescentus is easier to play than Emergency Shutdown, it can be reused with Clone Chip and it costs only 1 influence.

I did, but it's extra memory and if I don't get Deep Red I might have problems. Besides, I used it a lot in my Dec(k)onstructor deck, so I went for something else.
