The prepaid kate's of yore combined bursty economy with budget breakers and SMC to utilise the toolbox nature of it's programs. MWL hurt this deck, and since I've seen few lists actually carrying legwork. In my opinion, one of prepaid kate's more potent cards, given it tended to win the game off measured runs, with it's bursty but ultimately limited economy.
In an attempt to fit the main players of this time in a deck (clot, rumor mill, legwork), influence had to be found. In the breakers, lady stands tall, cycy was cut, given it's rigidity and struggle to get into 3 servers consistently (even if that be R&D, the remote, and HQ). Dagger might seem like an odd choice, but given the goal for the economy was similar, to limit it's impact on influence while retaining at least some speed, ghost runner was not a poor fit. Given Kate's tendency to make measured runs, one should not have to break more than 9 sentries in a game, and if the corp is particular annoying, cloak could provide a discount on the ghost runner tax. Otherwise, dagger is competative with most killers out there. It does not need the support from sharpshooter, it's cheap enough to get into play itself and deal with the destroyer. Deus X still is a valuable tool in the toolbox.
Economy was initially purely neutral, armitage is a good baseline card, nothing wrong with sure gamble or casts, they happily carry one through an early game, setup is quite doable with them, and if the corp is light on ice, one gets far with them. However, persistent econ isn't there, magnum opus costs too much memory, so glacier matchups were tough. Basically, this deck was a shaper that needed Kati, no matter how strange that sounds. A friend of mine had done the calculation on Algo trading and Kati pales by it in click efficiency: the issue is with shapers way of building up, investing early for a potent lategame with a multitude of the economy cards, you rarely need Kati, or algo trading in a shaper deck. Here though, such a slot was needed, and algo trading is the superior card.
Last influence has become hunting grounds, to deal with the tollbooth and raven decks of this world and retain more tempo, but could easily be something else.
Goal of this deck is to have an answer for everything, and to make few, but effective runs.
