Ship of Theseus (Worlds 2023)

Barcelona was an absolute blast, and I had a wonderful time overall. Many thanks to all of the NSG volunteers who made World's 2023 not only a reality, but an excellent party. I'd met so many cool people at World's who previously were only names online, and if you're thinking about going to World's 2024 I strongly encourage you to do so!

This list is essentially a card-for-card lift of @coldlava's Ob list from EMEA. I've always been attracted to straightforward decks and Ob as an ID just had too many lines of text for me to look at it as anything but complex. Thankfully, Lucas (@coldlava) has been an Ob believer for a long time and managed to convert me with this. The main conceit is to have the runner take damage in some fashion, either with Urban or Reaper, and then hit them with the Excavator/Bass/MAD/EotL combo. In testing this worked well, but on the day many players were savvy about the dangers of Excavator and were judicious in when to clear the board of assets that could prove problematic. The deck can definitely be surprising, especially with so many different flavors of Ob out at the moment.

I'd like to thank everyone who took time out of their nights to jam games and practice with me (too many to name in full), and a special shout out to my CoS teammates @jaypumpkin and @groundhog who let me play Standard to get some last minute practice in and for letting me test further changes with them when they could have been sleeping off jet lag, haha. Extra special shoutout to @coldlava for the list, thanks again buddy. Looking forward to World's 2024!
