The story
I was about to play a sightly modified Lat Shapoc from H̸͕̀à̶̜͔̦̦͔̪͉̲̦̐̏̂̓̎̇͊̇̓͛̇͂͑̿̋̔̾͌̃͒̃̓̿͐̔͑͂̈́͆̐́̿̈́̈́̒́̈̓̚͝͠͝͠͝r̶̢̧̡̧̛̛̗̲͙̣̬̝̪̪̖̬̭̹͈̺͉̫̗̣̣͈̗̫̖͚̥͕̦͓͉̲͈̟̞̣̪̦͎͇̭̲̳͙͂͆͐̐͆́̓̋͆̏͐̿̽́̾̀́̔͌̈́̀̃͊́̐͆̀̀̄̅͂̾̿̈͗͂̏̿́̐̓͂͋̒̄͆̊͌͆̓̒̉͗̅̐̾͊͆̒̽́̏̋͊̈́̔̿͗̈̔͘̕͠͝͝b̶̡̢̧̧̡̡̠̠͚̟̙̹̟̲̭̩̙̘̻̣̣̹͔͖̯͗̾̿̈̇͗̋̽͜ͅi̸̡̨̨̧̡̧̡̨̦͙͈̠̜̱̞̘͙͔͓̼̬̗͚̥̜͍̭̖͔̳͈̬͉̮̖͖̥͈̤̦̝͇͙̦̣͔̰̭̳̜͍͎̘̙̞͎͔͈͙̟͔̲̤̙̖̟̥̯͙̺̱͆͛͑͂́́͐̉̐̽̍̉̆͒̒̽̈́̊͛̋̊̂̌̓̃͌̈́̏̄͒̌̉͌̎̄͛̏̿̋̏̓̉̍̎͑̈́͌̈́̒̂̈́̾̑́́̇͛͆́̔̉̃͑͐̈̕͘̕̕̚͜͠͝͝͝͝͝͝ͅͅͅn̸̛͉̺͓̱͎̜̫̏̈́̔̈́̓̐̀̎̒̐̓͑̒̏̅͗̆͂̓̆̀̊͌́͋͌̀̊̓̽̀̔̔͂͌̚̚̚͝͠͝g̷̨̡̧̨̧̨̡̛̛̲̣̹̯̰͙̦͖̱̤̺͙̖̳̞̯̖̝̔̎̂́͑̽͆͂͋̈́̀͊̈́͌͌́̇̈́̈͊̊̈͒̓́̊̒͊̀̑͗͗̈̾̓̎͂́́̄̎̿̾͛̐̂̋̐̽̏͗͑̌͑̌̒̀͊͘͘̚̚̕̕̚̕͜͠͝͝͠͝͠͝͝͠͝e̸͓͉̻͙̫̣͖͓̪͎̖͇͈̳͓͈̫̠̿͂͐͑̑̒̐͐̍̿̑̎̿̌̉͌́͑́̄̐̃͑͑̈́͑̎̄͘͘̕̕͝͠ŗ̷̡̛̛̗̠̩͓̯̞̺̦͇̤͔͙͎̫͓̬͕͇͕̭͚̱̮̲͓̯͍̮̝̙͓̦̯̲̤̪̩͕̪̝̩̝̓̈́̋̿̓͑̿̇́̾̀͛͐̓̌͗̓̅̊̎͋̅͐̀́̇̍͌͋̇̂̈́͒͂̋̊̇͊̉́̉͂͛̃̄̓̊̏̍̂̅̎͊̓̈́̊̓̆̒̀̑̀̚͘͝͝͝͝͝͝͝͝. But on the day of the tournament I: "This BTL list with Red Planet Couriers is so strong. I need to play Clot!" That's when I realised that this thing really wasn't good enough for me…but what did we know, you ask? "No matter how much experience and training i received it just couldn´t find any weakness in my cards. So The challenge went as follows; build something new based around red planet courier + big blue ships+ 4 or more Hints. He got very successful! Today our goal for 2021 was set – try to make your own deck into 3 viable strategies at least one time per week.
So while I was busy in the morning, I did some deck-building in my head and had only time for 2 quick test games. But it worked out! I replaced the 2nd Paperclip with Clot. Furthermore SMC and Simulchip came in for Compile and some dupilcates.
With those things laid back on paper, we played a few rounds of game 1 against each other without breaking into jokes at what may or might not have been an "Oh shit!" moment between our two decks (I never actually mentioned that to either player!). After losing both runs which saw us go down 3-0 from play before switching sides; neither side lost their match as you see below:
Gameplan
Camp the remotes, so all the agendas are stuck in HQ or R&D. When the remotes gets too expensive, its time to blast the Apocalypse.
Sadly there is not much Central pressure except one Conduit with Contaminate. But usually you want to run centrals only for A̸̢̧̨̡̨̛͉̙̟̰͍̟̦̝̺̭͓̯̖̼̞̲̝̫͚̞͇̱̠̼̞͙̰͎͍̦̐̈́̊̿̏̋̄͂̌̀͋̿͑͆̄̽̓͐̔̈́͂̀́͒̆̌̓̽̐̆̀̎̌͂̈́͋̈́͋̒̔͒̈̒̾̔̆̂̋̿̒̉̇̈́͘̕̚͘̕̚͜͝͝͝͝͝͠͝p̶̢̧̨̢̛̤͚̭͖͚̟̗̦̤̦͇̼̭̝̪̪̳͎͈̘͔̮̠̳̫̟͇͉̼̮̪̟̻̱̰̼͉̖̤̟̫͈̹͔̹̦̬̺̣̥̔͂̍̀͌̎̀̀͐̐̊̓̏̊̔͌̇͒̓͋̎̇͂͛̃́̎̇͆̂̊͋̿͑̕͘̕̕͜͜͝͝͝ͅͅö̵̡̡̧̹̭͍͎͈̞̝̳͇͕̭̦̯̯̟̫́͋̅̀̽̄̇̌͌̄̋́̑̆̀̀̃̆̋͐͋̃͗͘̚͜ċ̷̡̡̢̡̧̢̝̯̩͉͈͔̳͖̳̯͖̞͚̤̭͖̺͉̯̣̜̣͎̳̗̱͓͖͈͙̖̥̙̻̦̗͚̥̲̪͚̯̮̬͚͍̫̹͉̱͕̹̫͎̱̗̦̟̙̤̖̩̳͔̱̺̹̥̦̥̻̋̉͌͐̎͛̔͊͋͂͛͐̄̉̿̽̾̀͘̕̚̚͝͠͠ͅą̴̡̢̢̛̛̛̠̳̖̥̤̯̦͙̪̫̠̺̥͍̠̹̳͇̺̙͖̟̰͖̼̥̱͓̯͉̙̰͍̘͐̍͌͗́́͛́̌̆̑̈́̔͐̀̀̀̎̑̒͂̌͗́͂͗̍̐́̂̉͊̒̃̋̅̈̇̆̈̈́̓̀̐̀͌͑͘͘͘͘̕̚͠͝͝͝ͅl̸̢̛̛̛̬͓͍̻͇͉̭̰̯͔̜̦̰͓̄́̅̏̍̂̐̔̄́̂͒̓̐̎͆̋́̾̆̈́͊͐̃̀͊́̔́̆̈́̇̉̿̈́̈́̍͌͗̀̇̂̌̽̃̾͑͆̃̈́̀̍̊̿́̂̓͆̿̔̓͋͋̓̚̕̕̕͠͝͝͠͝͝y̸̨̢̧̛̤̘̤̰̩̹̠͔̲̱̯̬͕̬̺͓̭̠͓̬̹̖̭̞͔̎̍̀̑͊̎̇̊͑̀̊́̉̃̆͒̾̾͊́͋̑̄̈́̒̿̃̓͊̋̈́̽̄͗͑͑̀̃̇͂̎̋̈́̃̈̍̈͐̎͒̕͘̕͜͠͝͠p̴̢̡̧̢̡̨̨̢̨̢̤̦̗͉̣̱̖̬̙͉̬͈̼̠̯̩̟̭̦͕͇͍̲̳̬̘̠͉̦̩̠̦̻̳̦̪̫̮̳͕̻͇̫̹̜̣̦̬̬̟̹͙̙̯̤͕̰̱̯̜̈́̔̎͛̉̉̇̀̉͛̽͛͜͜͠͝ͅͅͅs̶̡̡̧̧̢̧̨̧̢̡̛̠̱͇̺̯͉̩̺͔̘̮͚͉̲̲̹̰̭̱̮̫͖͙̰̦͖͓̻̖͕̤̳̗̬͙̘͈̭̠͉͓̮̦͚͙̗̜̥̳̄̔̊̾̐̊͂̐͂̊͆̓͊̿͐̊̾̂̄̓̒̃̀̓̀̓̉̽̒͗̎̐̂̆͛̃̈́̿̽̽͊͒̈́̈́̓̂̑̅͗̈͛͑̂͘̚̕͘͜͝͝ͅͅͅe̷̡̢̧̡̡̡̛͚̞͔̥̫̮͕͔̜̹̲̻͉̱̲͖̖̝̳̭̼̲͍͖̰̤͈̩͓͋͗̆́̊͗́̔̆̒͑͊́̂̓̈́̏̂̈́̔̑̄̄͒̓̂̐̈́͑̉́͂̍̌̅͘͘͜͝ anyway. This will cost $10+ credits. Plus money can't buy a lot of good runs! I wouldnt waste my dollars on conduit until at least 4-5 runs have been made since that point… but this means your economy doesn't even stop when their servers get destroyed by big combos like icebreakers and killmails, unless they happen quickly (unless it's 3rd turn). There's no need running another remote right away tho because most people areníd got enough threats already left before using them themselves.
Results
Clot-O-Lypse managed to be the only unbeaten runner deck in the tournament.
The Clot include really worked out, it won me the match against Spombo and Build to Last with Atlases. It also helped a lot in three games against CtM.
The win vs Spombo was lucky, since he miscalculated his clicks and didnt realize how he could win. His Best Defense could trash my Artist Colony quickliy after it sacked 3 Agendas and a Meridian.
I was mostly afraid from Haas-Bioroid: Precision Design. It is so fast and has an extra Hand size. But it actually worked out. Since Lat is my favorit runner, I cursed NISEI a bit for giving PD an extra Hand Size for no good reason.
As long as your agenda runs at least 6 cards (for card advantage), you shouldn't waste that much attention on their hand sizes or scoring agendas early game. After running up 25k credits just once without any issues of late winning this matchup every time :D
This makes two great guides about playing around PDS. One detailed what each one did because they all require different set ups but mainly focused more details into some tactics used by opponents like BTL/PE who can find strategies outside these techniques which are generally extremely expensive if played well enough! And another guide talks about possible solutions using many specific examples given below already.
Identity
How many times has Lat stumbled?
Spombo: 2 of 11. The superconducting hub made it impossible Ctm: once in 7 shifts Ctm: 13 laps of 19 Ctm: 8 of 16 PS: 8 laps of 14 Built to last: 9 out of 13 shifts Acme: 10 laps of 19 Ctm used to install all the cards, so in this tournament it was more difficult to activate Lat vs Ctm than against PD.
I really like the new shaper economy. VRcation works very well to discard Out of the Ashes. I even didnt try to hide I am on Apoc.
Telework Contract works very well with Lat. Often I don't want to spend clicks for drawing, so I end up using the leftover click for running or teleworking.
Early Simulchips were often used for Harbinger. Although they were usually crucial later for the clot thread or to bring back Conduit and the breakers.
I often discarded Conduit. In the hope to bring him back when RnD is open. Often, I had no Simulchips left for it. But I still think it is a good include. So far that has been true! Other than keeping tabs on other players who may not have any useful cards in their hand... nothing quite as exciting but satisfying either way.
Beth Kilrain-Chang was very good at both games without an apoc trigger. But otherwise not very positive over time. Usually the extra clicks of Out of the Ashes are enough to trigger the apoc. So here are Beth's triggers.
Sports: 10 Cm: 4 Ctm: not installed Cm: 8 PD: 1 Built to last: 1 Acme: 3
Possible Changes
Overclock could be a good include. It works well with SMC but not with Out of the Ashes. So i didnt dare to throw it in last minute. And I am also not sure what to cut for it except Beth.
Also check out my corp. It is much more fun than the win rate suggestes. Not only do you get 2x x3, but all your resources will double as they are now and give bonus points when building new ships or something like that. Now if this was just an RNG issue (no one knows) then maybe 4/5 wins would seem fair too (i dont care anymore). However because people keep making money by running these games while buying their own equipment which gives us 0 credits from anything else + no build slots should cause serious problems at least until its fixed once everyone has bought enough stuff first? Why have so many non-ganking builds still don't run X amount upgrades even though getting them right can provide a boost.
