Gods Among Us

Glitch 385

Hey everyone, this is Glitch from ANRBlackHats with my first list posted on this great site; my initial take on Titan Transnational. This was the ID that I was initially drawn to after reading the spoilers, and being a long time Weyland fan, was very glad to see a new way to play the faction.

So as everyone pretty much figured out right away, this ID has a great synergy with the FA style of play. I however, still want to play this as a Rush deck, with a FA and Kill backup that can also slightly turtle behind some decent glacier type ice (Asteroid Belt, Nebula, Wormhole, and Archer).

I won't bore you with pointing out the interaction between Project Atlas and Titan's ability, I feel it's a given. I will point out how amazing Mark Yale is, as it really shocked me how good the ability actually is. Mark Yale turns Hostile Takeover into a 10 credit swing (7 from scoring Hostile Takeover, 3 from using Mark Yale to spend the agenda counter you put onto the agenda), turns Firmware Updates into a 12 credit swing and gives you a nice option to go BP free with Geothermal Fracking, gaining you 9 credits (or 21 credits with 3 BP by using the ability on the agenda). Along with agendas, I decided to go with a safer option for my 3 pointer by using Government Contracts instead of High-Risk Investment. This was because, although you get an second agenda counter with HRI, and there's a potential to gain more money by using its ability, there's also the chance that the runner becomes broke for a long time and Government Contracts can always net you 3 credits.

Trick of Light and San San City Grid are obviously in there for your Fast Advance options. A frequent play with this deck while installing advanceable ICE, is to simply Install, Advance, Advance them. This not only creates 2 advancement tokens immediately that you can use next turn with Trick of Light, but also bring the whopping 9 credit rez cost of the new "Galaxy" ICE down to a measly 3 credits.

I don't feel I need to explain Scorched Earth + SEA Source since it's been around for so long, and used so frequently. However, I will say that Scorched Earth will always be your best option for destroying Plascrete Carapace. Once you've played you Scorch "win" condition and they use their Plascrete counters, you can always shuffle the combo back into your deck with Jackson Howard, and search for them again with Atlas Tokens to turn it back on.

Again, this is my initial idea for the ID, and it's possible to improve. So feel free to leave comments and concerns, I'm always open to critique in my deck, and love answering questions if some card choices aren't as obvious as I think they are.

Mark Yale is really good since he(or she? I don't know.) has self-destruction ability like jackson. But I'm not sure if you can get profit from having 3 of them in your deck. One Mark will turn all counters to credits anyway.

@Two_EG The reason for having 3 Mark Yale is so you can see them each game, and hopefully often each game as once the runner realizes the amount of money you can generate, will be quick to trash (or get you to trash) it.

It looks really cool. Thinking ahead to Eater decks and their shenanigans, I might include either a Crisium Grid or a Will o' the Wisp to protect against Account Siphon--perhaps in the Subliminal spot?

@Oisin Believe me, I've learned the hard way in proxy testing how hard Eater decks will hit Fast Advance and Rush decks. I think you're spot on with Crisium Grid, and I may try that out. I'm not sure if a single Crisium or Wisp is going to be enough, but it's worth a try.

I don't see how mark yale is worth slotting. how do you use him enough at 1 credit at a time to make him worthwhile? I cant' imagine you're burning counters for 2 cr + trash ever....

@x3r0h0ur

I think you might have misread the secondary ability on Mark Yale. It states that you may either trash or spend an agenda counter to gain those 2 credits. Using the latter of the two options, also triggers the first ability of gaining 1 credit when you spend an agenda counter.

Yeah, Yale looks boss--every agenda counter becomes a potential 3 credits.

I think a lot of decks are going to need more Account Siphon protection--it will be interesting to see what ends up being the most efficient protection. I'm guessing that Caprice will see a lot more play in any deck that can squeeze her in. Crisium becomes more valuable.

But as someone who has played HB Glacier for a long time--I'm terrified of Eater and Siphon recursion in the upcoming expansion (not to mention the fork/knife/spoon set--Glacier decks will be long gone).

It looks very cool. I thought about SanSan but I forgot about Trick of Light for this ID which seems so obvious when I'm looking at your decklist lol. Here some modification I would do if I play it:

-1 Mark Yale (which I consider a viable option as it have a situational condition (agenda counter),

-1 subliminal Messaging

+2 Crisium Grid (so a awesome card and even more with what is coming in O&C).

-1 Government Contracts

+1 Executive Retreat (I really like the idea to have a 5 cards free draw whenever I want or just sell it with Mark Yale if I don't need it).

I love the composition of this deck! And think everyone is in the right place with Crisium Grid, @Exo Has a great sulution... Great Job @Glitch and look forward to more testing!!!

@Exo

Great idea with Executive Retreat to battle Wanton Destruction, I'm definitely going to have to give these suggestions a try

This is interesting, and I'll have to think about it. Two things puzzle me here: Subliminal Messaging and Restructure.

It looks like this deck wants to go fast, and Subliminal typically only works its magic over several turns--at least 3 to become equivalent to Beanstalk Royalties. With that and the fact that there's only 1 in your deck, are you really seeing that much use out of it?

Restructure requires a lot of credits. If you're banking on agendas to get you crazy money, this could be a dead card against econ denial decks, especially with your ice's cost distribution. Maybe I'm not seeing it correctly, though--is your deck good at bouncing up 5-10 credits that quickly?

Maybe I'm just giddy over a new card, but Errand Boy is a fantastic card that would help accelerate the deck, or give the runner a decent tax.

@hatman

I think you're correct on most points. Subliminal Messaging was kind of just a toss in and hasn't really proven its worth. Restructure should probably be replaced with Beanstalk Royalties for a quicker credit swing. In all honesty I hadn't tested against any Econ denial until @SlySquid played his Maxx deck.

As for Errand Boy, it was considered, but with Parasite running so rampant, I was very worried about relying too heavily on low strength ICE. Have you tested it against Parasite? I'm really eager to find out how good it is because I too was excited by it at first glance.

8 Dec 2014 hatman

@Glitch, I haven't actually tested Errand Boy at all. Right now my meta is me and one other guy looking at each other and saying "we should play sometime."

That said, my plan for parasite is usually my plan for Deus X in Jinteki--make them run out of recursion. If you rez Errand Boy for 4, then take credits for all the subs, it's essentially another Ice Wall. If they parasite it, then you spent net 1 credit to make them spend 2 credits and a card. Which, in my mind, is usually worth it. That may be a playstyle thing, though.

I have to say, I really like Beanstalk Royalties with Scorched Earth. When I play as Ken, sometimes I siphon a rushing corp down to 0 credits with only a few cards in hand. Having these in there shuts down that play immediately.

Really interested to see how this new ID would work. Looks solid and will try this out!

9 Dec 2014 Glitch

I've now edited the original list to incorporate some of the changes that have been mentioned.

-1 Subliminal Messaging -1 Mark Yale -3 Restructure +2 Crisium Grid +3 Beanstalk Royalties

Sorry for the double post, hit enter by accident.

I'm definitely making the above changed and am excited to test them. Im also going to try Errand Boy in place of Changeling
