Who Engineers the Past, Engineers the Future

Watzlav 1019

Public shaming of this deck. I'm not having the success I expected to have with it and of course it's not my fault. It's the deck's. Booo!

Is the hybrid approach bad? But if I went all in the fast-advance track, wouldn't I be better of playing yellow cards? I'm so desperate that I might actually take this other deck to Store Champs.

Actually looks pretty good to me and similar to what I've had some store championship success (with the notable difference of no 5/3's). Tweaks that jump to mind:

  • pri-req is a good agenda but not sure if really have the best targets for it. Perhaps the fragments instead? Eden fragment specifically could be a big savings if scored early.

  • if I had to take wild-ass guesses about the losses, I would say speed might be the issue. Melange could really slow things if relied on for money. Not sure how tight money is, but maybe replacing with blue level, green level, successful demonstrations, or restructures (or a mix) might be better. Most tier-1.5+ runner decks will simply win in my experience once they get setup with breakers, econ, and multi-access (usually by the turn 8 range), so not having an agenda or 2 scored (maybe just 1 with 3-pters possible) by then is a tough spot.

  • how are you finding the money for ash usage? I've found you need an impressive amount these days given the new runner economies to allow it to work (although I suppose only need it to work once with a 5/3 to be in good shape and then can just help make the san-san tax really high).

  • Tollbooths and ice walls are great, but is the inf really worth the 3rd san-san? At the very least the san-san forces a hefty trash on the runner (usually after running 1 or 2 pieces of ice). Given the keyhole/eater madness right now, maybe wrap-arounds for ice-walls if they decide to keep in the other-faction ice.

Just some comments from a fellow HB lover whose frustrated with their seemingly b-level performance lately ( i hate thinking ... why am I not playing my NEH deck instead? .... )
