Hypermantle Kit

Rhahi 134

This is the deck I've been exclusively playing last few months, bringing it to local events in Malmö and Linköping CO.

The core synergy of the deck comes from Hyperbaric, Mantle, The Twinning, and finally Afterimage.

breakers

  • Hyperbaric is a decent decoder that I can boost using Mantle, Overclock, and Rigging Up. Kit's ability is also very useful with the boosted Hyperbaric!
  • With 1 mantle and Afterimage, most early game sentries can be broken easily, and with 2 mantles you can get through any sentry once per turn.
  • Gauss is the worst breaker in the deck, and this is where Kit's 10 influence drags us down.
  • To help against good ice placements from the corp's side, 1 Pelangi is used to use our hyper-boosted Hyperbaric on any ice once per turn, saving a lot of credits.
  • You have 3 Hyperbaric and 1 SMC to turn on Into the Depths, to search out the remaining pieces, like other breakers, Mantle, or Paricia. Cute interaction: you can use Mantle to activate SMC :)
  • The deck is somewhat vulnerable to rigshooting, but it can still function using Kit's ability and Pelangi. There is no recursion; 1 copy of Simulchip or Compile may be used, but it's usually not going to do anything, so I did not put it in.

multi-access

Since Mantle does not have "during the run" clause, it can be used to boost breakers during the corp's turn. Boost Hyperbaric for value, or boost Afterimage for economy option. Once set up, you can see 3 cards from HQ or R&D once per turn.

economy

The only lasting economy in the deck is the 3 mantles and 1 Paricia. I find that it's important to not overextend early and have some off-turns to power up Hyperbaric or draw more, instead of sustaining pressure. That 20-credits gathered over Creative Commissions and Telework Contracts will run out.

flex slot

Due to lack of influence, there is not much slots to flex. I used T400 Memory Diamond since I was expecting kill decks, going up to 6 cards + Aniccam makes it very hard to kill the runner. Otherwise, you can go with DZMZ. With DZMZ it's quite painless to install Mantle/breakers off of click or Into The Depths.

DJ Fenris can be used as Steve when the corp has open HQ, Quetzal against big barriers (Gauss is expensive!) or for early game pressure, and Loup against asset matchups. It's very versatile and what you choose can be very important when you see him.

other remarks

I think this deck is very fun to play. The list is simple, but it's difficult to navigate efficiently. It has very powerful moments; hyper-charging Hyperbaric/Twinning and bypass against ambitious Hydra rez, to say a few :)

Quite the beast to stare down, especially once the rig has been established and is actively ticking two Twinning counters each turn cycle. Eats through pretty much all "small" glaciers and preys on even the trendiest of Jinteki ICE.

Id like to better understand this section

If you spend mantle during your turn it wont refresh until the start of your next turn right? Any boosting Afterimage only stays boosted during the encounter right?

Recurring credits refresh at the start of your turn, so save one credit on Mantle to use during the corp's turn. Boosting breaker outside of run will have no lingering effect, but it's the easier way to use Mantle.
