High Assets v1.1 - 2nd Place SC - Guardian Games - PDX, OR

See previous version for a detailed description of how to play this deck

This deck went 7-1 throughout the day, while Whizzard only went 3-4. With better runner play/better runner deck I have a great shot at first place. Regardless, this deck just stomped everyone, with the one game I lost being due to rusty play (I hadn't played the deck IRL since my SC win over a month ago). This speaks to how difficult this deck is to pilot at a high level. Round 1 was the single loss with Round 2 & 3 being very close. By the 4th Round, however, I got my groove back and always knew I'd win the games, even if I was down 4-0 or 6-2.

The only change to this version is (-1) Wraparound, (+1) Interns. I think the change is a good one, although one game Interns did just sit in my hand unusable. However, I also had enough ICE that game to do its job so maybe the Inters was better to tell the runner, "Sure, go trash my jackson, I'll just bring it back!".

If you try this deck and lose a lot, go back and read the previous post again, then play the deck 20 times, and try to always identify your mistakes during both losses and wins.

Give it a try and let me know how you do!

Congrats! How many of the wins were flatlines with DRT? Any psychobeale scores? The biggest challenge I had piloting this deck was when opponents ran every remote and just trashed the DRTs before I could use them. Did you have any trouble keeping them on the board?

I did have one or two flatlines and exactly two psychobeals FTW. Like I've always said, this deck can win any number of ways, the challenge is to get your skill level high enough to know how to make that happen.

I think this update was your chance to rename the archetype to High Horses.

What are your thoughts on Turtlebacks? I put a singleton in my deck to test, but I'm not sure what I think. Have you tested it yet? Having money is always good and it costs them 4 to trash it and they often want to.

This deck feels so shitty to play against. I've run against the standard NEARPAD decks before, and they don't feel 1/2 as bad as this one. Congrats on the monster you've created, sir.

@Four_Leaf - I think Turtlebacks would be a great addition, but it would be worth than the singleton Psychic Field. Really this deck needs to punish constant remote checking more, not less. Adding Turtlebacks just seems like more of the same.

Any issues with Clot yet? Is it worth adding an extra Cyberdex Virus Suite? What about playing it over a sprung Psychic Field that they didn't trash? I usually save this for SanSan City Grid.

Playing this build 20x and looking for mistakes after every game seemed obvious but turned out to be great advice.

Hey Jonny, I'm still rocking my varient of this deck post-Clot. I've been running two cyberdex and one blacklist as my form of combating it. What has your experience been post Clot?

This was my favorite deck to play but Clot+Hactivist=Totally Nerfed. Time to move on.

Not sure it is time to move on, so much as it is time to adapt.

1.) If clot is a huge concern, run another copy of cyberdex. I think Clot is a mainstay in the meta, but I am not sure this deck has the space to play 2 reliably.

2.) Run currents. Manhunt as a singleton or targeted marketing are great choices for this deck to combat the threat of Hacktivist Meeting. Targeted Marketing even might dissuade some runners from playing Clot.

3.) Drop an Eli for a Psychic Field, replace Eli with Gutenberg. Keeps the ice numbers up, gives you a punishing and taxing piece of ice on R&D (that has resistance to parasite) and a second psychic field helps combat the main way people "fight" this deck, which is to simply run on every face down card.

The only hard choices are what to cut. Unfortunately, I probably would drop the singleton of Closed Accounts, a San San City Grid, a Daily Business Show and the Marked Accounts to make the space for these changes (Running +1 Cyberdex, +1 Psychic Field, +1 Gutenberg and +1 "choice" card, like Targeted Marketing).

The deck is in a tough spot right now. Maybe the meta needs some time away from this nonsense before it will work again.

Have you considered swapping Eli 1.0s for Gutenberg?
