I've been a fan of NEXT since it's release. Saw this deck today and it inspired me. I completely agree: NEXT's identity ability is more effective as an early game draw boost and not a rapid glaciation tool.
As above, we're using NEXT's ability as an early game draw engine, so we don't need as high an ICE density as 'traditional' NEXT Design decks.
As befits an HB rush deck, we have the NEXT ICE as well. Cheap, effective, and soon to come in three flavours of delicious. We also have a couple cheap bioroids to keep things interesting. The one-of Janus is there just in case we really need to lock down a server. I find I tend to spread ICE around HQ 2 - 3 deep, with one scoring server as well. I like my Architects in front of R&D and the scoring server.
Economy is where things get a little murky. Dedicated Server is really helpful in this deck with all the low rez costs. I've been lucky to get it early so far, but I'd like to see another one or possibly a Root. However, the only way to do this that I see is to ditch the Turtlebacks. Which are maybe of dubious use anyway, but would be more useful if I added in another asset. Ah, decisions, decisions. Successful Demonstration has worked well, especially early game. but I might drop one on favour of a Peak Efficiency, which would synergize well.
Anyone have any suggestions, I'm happy to hear 'em!

I played this deck for awhile: It isn't at all a horizontal deck, but I found creating a scoring server with 2 pieces of ice and a Melange Mining Corp. was a great play. The runner stares at a field of 5-6 unrezzed ice and knows they have to run that server or your economy will be out of control. If I would be a bit nervous here, it is that your ice is pretty expensive--a lot of this stuff costs 5 credits, and most of it can be clicked through. Without any FA options, I don't see how a horizontal game will let you score. |
