Random ID Deck - Week 2 - Corp

MrFiver 7

My girlfriend and I started playing a weekly game with randomly drawn corp and runner ID's to force ourselves to try new things. This is my week 2 corp deck with Argus Security: Protection Guaranteed.

This deck isn't anything fancy yet. I essentially tried to force the runner into making hard choices by making sure almost everything in this deck is geared towards either meat damage or tags (and their consequences). That way, if and when the runner scores an agenda, they're in for sad times. I'm a little uncertain still on the ICE distribution but I think it's good for starters.

A couple of notes on card choice:
-SanSan City Grid: It might be too situational but I imagine a setup where you can score Vulcan Coverup out of hand, possibly after you've landed The Cleaners.
-Hourglass: If the runner loses clicks, it's hard to ditch tags and draw back up, right?
-Snatch and Grab: I've never tried this card, but it seems like it could really screw up a runner's rig if played right.
-Lotus Field: I love Lotus Field. Shut up.

POST-GAME RECAP: Good or bad, this was a fun deck to play. Also, so far I think it's pretty good having went 2-0 with a come-from-behind victory both times. If you keep a Dedicated Response Team up, the runner either takes two meat damage on stealing an agenda or takes a tag and two meat damage. I never got around to laying down two copies at the same time but I imagine it would be brutal. I also had the pleasure of combining this with at least one scored copy of The Cleaners in each game. Risking 3 or 4 meat damage on every score slows the runner down tremendously.

It maybe needs some tweaks but I want to try it out more before I decide what to start swapping. However, my current thoughts are as follows:
-Maybe swap one or two copies of Private Security Force for a different agenda, possibly Project Atlas?
-It could just be luck of the draw but Punitive Counterstrike didn't come up until the end game when it was win or die on the next score anyway. It could possibly be swapped out for something but I don't know what and want to test more.
-SanSan City Grid never came up and I was scoring fast enough without it. I want to get a chance to try it but if it doesn't add much it could maybe be removed. Again, I'm unsure what would replace it.

I have a cool idea. In order to vary your Barriers up a bit...-1 Bastion, +1 Fire Wall. With this, there's more to do with any excess credits you may have at any given time. This looks pretty darn sweet otherwise. :) I'm pondering taking out my Excalibur and putting in Orion...but if I'm not facing an Eater deck, then the Excalibur will do some good work. It's a tough call, heh.

Thanks for the suggestion! Fire wall seems like a cool substitution. I didn't have a ton of credits at any one time but I probably had enough I could advance here and there. Also, I like Orion. It proved quite useful against the copies of Crescentus my opponent was running because it wasn't worth the trouble to de-res. All in all, this was a super fun deck and pretty rude to the runner as well. I think I'm going to play around with it for my main corp deck for a while and see how it does with a little fine-tuning.

Fine tuning...can never do enough of that, IMO. :) Argus is shaping up to be one of those IDs (so far, anyway) that you can go a couple different ways with...but no matter what you do, it's almost a neverending battle in your own mind to streamline it to the point of personal satisfaction. Keep me posted as to how the deck does!
