So I'm still not sure on my ICE suite, but the idea of the shell-game of Jinteki (even if you never use it, it's the implied threat) combined with the trickle economy of Sundew and lots of low costed, but reasonable ICE seems like a good idea. Get the runner to commit early and break their toys with Power Shutdown.
Thoughts? Any major faux pas here?
Thanks

Hmm...excellent point. I still like the click-tax even if the run is a jack-out after the first ICE. Swordsman? Neural Katana? I'll cehck out db0's for ideas as you suggest. Thanks. |

Honestly, the Jinteki Sentry that has me aching for Runner's to grind against it is Shinobi. Unfortunately, the Bad Publicity is a poor pairing with NAPD Contract, but the opportunity to flatline an unprepared Runner in a single piece of ICE brings a smile to my cold, Corporate heart. Speaking of NAPD Contract, I'm suprised that RSVP is not part of your suite. Typically I see NAPD Contract as part of the RSVP with Ash/Caprice combo. Fetal AI would double down on RSVP's protection as well. I would seriously evaluate the Caduceus click tax against RSVP's protection, and I still recommend reviewing GRNDL Refineries in this build for a more stable economy base. I would also take a look at Successful Demonstration to synergize with the Runner Jack Out stategy, but I can't see where you can spare influence for it in this deck without losing the focus that you've built here. |

Yeah, I'm thinking RSVP instead of Cad, and I'm convinced on the GRNDL for sure. That's an easy switch just figuring out the space in Influence is tricky. Is it worth dropping a Power Shutdown? I have hard time justifying that. Dropping Haas and Cad is 7 Inf back. 3 RSVP is 6 of that. 2 RSVP is 4 and 1 GRNDL is 6 again...is it worth cutting a Howard for a second GRNDL Refineries or RSVP? And yeah, Successful Demo looks great too with this 'one ice and jack out' mentality, but now I'm real pressed for influence. Perhaps skip the Refineries all together and use Demo as the better econ. RSVP instead of Cad...easy call. Thanks. |

I would be very cautious about cutting a Jackson Howard when Sundews are present and Power Shutdown is in play. Sundews are a surprise powerhouse, and will be primary targets if you are facing a good player. You need the Jackson (or Interns) to recurse the Sundews when they are inevitably removed. You also need Jackson to rescue any Agendas or critical cards dumped by the Power Shutdown. Power Shutdown is part of the focus in this deck that I mentioned earlier. If you are going to drop Power Shutdown then you are looking at a build that is much closer to db0's Untrashable builds, and should probably realign along those lines. Keep your identity here with the Power Shutdown until you develop a next gen strategy for this build. Successful Demonstration is very much a Phase 3 economy generator, and will be a dead draw in your hand during Phase 1. In addition, it encourages the Runner to focus on Centrals instead of remotes. There are strategy considerations that come with adding it, but the late game utility means that I would not replace an earlier Phase economy generator entirely with it. Between the two, I'd go with GRNDL Refinery over Successful Demonstration (like I said earlier, I can't see where you can fit the influence for SD). However, perhaps consider switching Thomas Haas for a third Celebrity Gift. Giraffes are a gift that keeps on giving, after all (for example, build 3-4 layers of ICE on HQ and then flash Agendas with the Gift). With the switch from Caduceus to RSVP, this deck is trending towards a more defensive build. This is one of Jinteki's specialties, after all. Play test your build a bit, and then try switching the Hokusai Grids for Caprice Nisei (targetting the Centrals if you are facing a heavy Account Syphon/RD lock Runner). Once Honor and Profit is released, I'd look to switch the Trick of Light with Mushin No Shin. The current deck build does not have many targets for ToL token switching, and if you look at my GRNDL: Quick as a Corpse deck then you'll see some of the utility you can get out of Mushin. Plan B won't serve you well here due to the cost of your Agendas, but you can Mushin the GRNDL Refineries and Project Junebug to entice the Runner into a sub-optimal run. |

Switched to RSVP and Caprice. Made a few other random changes to the ICE to test a few things, and went 2-0 with Corp. I noticed the games were reaaaaaaaly long drawn out matches. It doesn't advance quick, but Sundew was certainly the star. Getting one early, or two late but unrun was the clincher. I'm unconvinced on the Power Shutdowns though, too often it was a dead draw seeing they had junk programs with very low cost they could trash. I might try a few things out, but I'm moving away from this plan and more Roto/Grim idea. Trick of Light and Junebug did work for me twice. Once in 'June-to-Fetal, score Fetal'. Once 'Fetal-to-june, psyche them into running a massive june flatline' So, I think that's working well, but could only be enhanced with more targets like GRNDL Refineries and possible some I didn't get much use out of Caprice last night, but the two times she got run it was ETR, so that's a good sign. I don't expect her to be perfect defence, but better. Successful Demo seems right. I'll tweek and repost what I have running now. Thanks agian for the tips. |

Power Shutdowns are a Phase 2/3 card, and I personally think they get more utility in Phase 2 to slowdown the approach to Phase 3. If you are looking to Grim, then you'll really need to re-evaluate the NAPD Contract in light of the Bad Publicity. I'm not against the switch, as it frees up the possibility of adding in those Shinobis that I like so much. However, if you want program destruction then take a look at importing some Aggressive Secretaries instead of the Rototurrets. That would free up more ICE slots for Jinteki branded damage. However... I'm not sure that program destruction is a solid fit for this deck. What you have here is a Jinteki style AP deck with a Project Junebug backup plan. Nothing wrong with that kind of build, but heavy program destruction doesn't play up to either of those plans and can't win by itself. When you have to import heavily to achieve a goal, it may be time to reconsider the identity card. Power Shutdown as a one off gives you versatility of targetting hardware or software, which adds flavor to your deck. I wouldn't invest more heavily in that route as Jinteki though. My preference would be to crank up damage production, but that's the focus of most of the Jinteki builds right now. |
One thing to keep in mind with Jinteki Replicating Perfection is that the Runner is only obligated to encounter one piece of ICE on a Central before they can Jack Out and run the Remotes. The general philosophy is that Jinteki RP wants that one piece of ICE to really hurt. I would look at some of the more painful Sentries in Jinteki's suite.
Caduceus and Thomas Haas are an interesting source of economy, but take a look at how your influence plays out with GRNDL Refineries instead. That feels like a more reliable source of credits, and frees up some ICE slots for painful Sentries.
I would review the Untrashable builds by db0 for ICE suite ideas.
