Whizzard Denial

athros 3

This is the first Runner deck I've created.

Owned: 1x Core C&C H&P What Lies Ahead Future Proof Opening Moves True Colors

I was going for a denial with things like Account Siphon (deny credits in the pool), Chakana (deny agendas with increased advancement costs), and Whizzard's ability for trashing cards.

I'd really like some constructive criticism.

I wouldn't bother with Chakana, you aren't looking to give the corp too many reasons to purge virus counters. The cards I suggest you add are surge for the medium and datasuckers and parasites, and same old thing for Deja vu and most importantly that account siphon. You want to be able to play account siphon as many times as possible, and same old thing brings your total number of account siphons from 4 to 7. That's a big difference from just the Deja Vu recursion.

I like your economy. Personally, and I would get a lot of flak for saying this in my group with good reason, I would cut the Grimoire since you only have one of them and run 3 spinal modem. We have hit an odd point where there aren't many traces in the global metagame that I have seen, and even then you need to be hit by a successful trace. Always be ahead in money and it won't be a problem. Nice deck and keep running.

@Kronosdev - I don't have Humanity's Shadow for the Surge (that would have been a nice card to have!) otherwise, pulling out Chakana makes a lot of sense. Same Old Thing looks like an easy add.

Thank you very much for your response!

I find it interesting that we both started off with the same two identities for our first decks and nearly the same packs! @Kronosdev made some good suggestions in Same Old Thing and dropping Chakana. As for my own:

-3 Plascrete might be too much, most decks I see run 2. They'll save your life for sure, but they are dead draws in most match ups.

-Imp: Imp is a wonderful program because it can trash ANYTHING, not just things with a trash cost. Combined with Whizzard's ability nothing besides ambushes are safe, which makes your runs on central servers even more detrimental to opponents. A single copy of Keyhole would also support this trash strategy, though you'd have to start thinking about Memory concerns. -The next step would be to find some influence into the deck, seeing as you'd only have the account siphons. Maybe look up some popular cards in other faction decks or common splashes, or play test and see what types of cards you are in need of.
