Continually Always Watching

Old Jim 41

Just wanted to do something a bit ridiculous by having a deck just run Overmind which means running mostly hardware to get as much memory as possible, then recur Overmind. I know it's impractical but I always wanted a hardware deck and replicator is actually useful (also maybe inside man if I play around with it)

I have a similar deck although it doesn't go so all-in on the hardware. I find the real problem with Overmind as a lone breaker is that all that money spent boosting strength really adds up (Cyberfeeder does help though). I'd recommend more econ and less MU stuff, and also Scavenge to re-fill your Overmind tokens.

@CobraBubbles Thanks for your comments. I did end up putting Scavenge in here this time (it completely slipped my mind in the previous iteration). As for more econ and less MU it already occurred to me that there might be more memory than I'd even need, but I wanted to try and play it before tuning it that way.

I'm not a great player (I only have one other person to play against at my store) so I have no idea of I should play this slower and go for the big runs, or more aggressive. That, I suppose, would depend on me adding more economy, though I want to keep the ton of hardware if at all possible since I've always wanted a big hardware deck. If anyone knows of any interesting ones (not necessarily good) let me know.

I played Big Girls Don't Play With Monoliths for a while and really enjoyed the focus on programs and recursion and wanted to try a similar thing with hardware based around Overmind.

Couple of thoughts:

  • you don't need more than two Replicator and I doubt the 3rd Omni-Drive will ever be played. Two cards safed and with one #R&D Interface less, you'd be down to 40.

  • take in one Levy AR Lab Access. Overdrawing and dropping cards becomes suddenly much less frightening.

  • drop the Special Orders, take one more Testrun.

  • Hardware-Deck without the e3 Feedback Implants and the luxury of choice between paying creds or Overmind-tokens? Not seriously... ;)

  • still not sold on the DeepRed. I know, much cheaper and follow directly with the Overmind but that's not gonna happen before the Opus is out anyway PLUS with the Toolbox you have another source of eco that has paid the diffrence back in 3-4 turns. Links and safed influence points on top of that.

  • you need protection. Last expansions Jinteki-Kill-Decks will have a fieldday with this and there's nothing that safes you from good old double-scorching. At least one Net Shield and Plascrete Carapace should go in there.

Like the build though... gonna try it! :)

@CrashdownThanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely keep those in mind after I actually get to play this and make changes. I know it is not exactly a valid argument for the quality of a deck, but the changes you suggest take out much of the influence I have in the deck, and I just feel odd not nearly hitting the influence cap when making a deck and I struggle to find what else will use influence and at the same time fit. (Also much of the meta cards like Plascrete and Net Shield were omitted since my meta is essentially 2 people who don't favor a kill playstyle. If this was not just a for-fun deck and I was bringing it to a tournament of course those would be auto-includes) Thanks again!
