Core Salvo [1st place OKORINA 6] (Salvo Testing)

Tsgstarwars 192

Built for OKORINA 6

This deck's identity is Salvo Testing as a 50/8 ID. This deck was the result of some questionable design decisions and substantial advice from Sokka which removed most of the bad options I was considering and shaped the deck into a surprisingly strong one with two main win conditions:

  1. Land 2 core damage, likely through agenda scores, then kill with Distributed Tracing - End of the Line
  2. Land 2 core damage, likely through agenda scores, at which point Ontological Dependence is a 2/2 and can be scored from hand, then the next one is a 1/2...

In practice, option 2 was far stronger than I expected and the only game won via kill was the final against Sokka was while on 6 points after he'd gone tag-me and stolen the only remaining things that I could fast advance from hand.

Some notable deckbuilding decisions:

  1. Pivot is a deceptively strong and flexible card - it can fetch kill pieces, or Ontological Dependence to fast advance from deck once on 3 core damage (and even through a simulchip clot while on 4 core damage, which is disgustingly strong). I suspect an even more rush-based version of this deck that plays 3 Pivots and abandons the kill plan might be even stronger

  2. Sokka tried to convince me not to play the asset package (MCA, Fully Operational, Riot Supression), and I absolutely should have listened to him - aside from a single play in the final Riot Supression was a dead card as much as I tried to make it work and simply playing more econ or rush tools would have made a much stronger deck.

The deck went 2-1 pre-cut - the loss was to Sokka's Baklan deck which it couldn't economically keep up with the constant derezing, but won the rematch in the final.

Thanks to Testrunning for running an incredibly fun tournament and to Sokka for the deckbuilding advice and convincing me to play a better enough deck for the win!
