RetVersus 589

"Analysing the board won't help. Your mistake was thinking we're playing the same game."

This was my final Ice Destruction build after 3 - 5 months of attempts. Pre-Data and Destiny I defy anyone to build a more effective one, with the possible exception of a Noise variant I've also attempted (immolation script becomes more valuable). Looking at the list it does not look particularly impressive, especially with odd includes like access to globalsec, but the rhythm of this deck is very specific.

You are weak early game without datasuckers, grimoire and parasites. Late game you are one of the strongest decks there is, able to control the board state almost entirely, drawing cards and gaining money much better than the Corp. The strategy to offset early weakness is simple; Reinas ability.

Typically the start of the game is getting set up, with standard looking for opportunities and weaknesses like any Anarch. Mid game you want to start getting those weak pieces of ice off the board with parasites and knifing Elis. Late game you're looking at the cutlery, faust and d4v1d.

Deja Vu is for hades shard or emergencies. Immolation script is for big ice. If you can Levy and you've not lost you should have a full rig and total control of the game at this point. e3 is to save those precious D4v1d tokens, but synergises with Faust too. Mimic is for Architect, because f that card. Keyhole is the win once you can make RnD pourous.

I took this deck to multiple events where it did well, winning several GnKs in my home town. It is difficult to pilot and runs very, very close (i.e each card is like gold dust). Occasionally you don't see an early d4v1d or wyldcakes and you flounder a bit. I've won entire games with just suckers and parasites.

As a final note in case anyone does bother to read this the fundamental thing to remember is that this is not like other decks. It is resource denial, but where the resources are the Corps ability to defend itself, not money or time or information. Everyone builds Reina as economic denial, but if you're forced to rez 10+ ice in a game that are going to die anyway you feel it. This deck is about board state control, and most of the difficult decisions will be calculating facechecking risks.

Anyway it's currently retired due to All-Seeing EyE, and I'm moving onto Apex, because it's the logical next step for this kind of strategy. In the mean time I recommend giving it a try as very few people expect ice destruction, and very few people are able to survive if you can make it to/past the mid game.

I like the way you think. I could improve myself by swimming around in your brain while you play Netrunner.

That was kind of Zed 1.0, no?
