Fisher King v.05 (Rochester Regionals: 2-3)

zagzagal 22

As a couple of people have asked me for this, here is my Faust street chess deck that I took to the Rochester, NY regional. There it went 2-3 but all but one where very close games and if I had more experience I could have done better. The deck is a proof of concept deck that far outperformed what I expected it too as it did not have extensive play testing.

The one thing to note is the deck seems to fold hard against Sol decks. Will edit later with a report.

Some quick notes if anyone is interested in the deck:

  • I found myself often almost drowning in cash and draw but may need a better way to turn that into accesses.
  • Patron is a monster of a card draw engine by itself, and allowed for street chess to assemble very quickly, often having the full setup out turn 4 or 5 (two pawns out, Deep Red, and a pawn in the heap).
  • May need a real/alternative sentry breaker as Architect is a real drag on Faust.
  • My average click compression was monstrous, on the Patron run I was averaging 3 cards drawn, a credit and credits on two tech writers.
  • Imp did almost nothing all day, and should be changed to something else, but what I'm not sure.

Edit: For report (sorry I am terrible with names):

  • Round 1: (Fastrobiotics) Got the engine going quick, turn 1 gamble, patron. SMCed a lady to steal a turn 2 astro behind a wraparound. Later I wend to index/maker's eye RnD but what I thought was a SanSan turned out to be a Jackson he left out for a couple of turns. Saw the points I needed to win but got shuffled away, never recovered. Eventually the gentleman won the regional. 0-1
  • Round 2: (Cybernetics punitive) stole a vanity from archives but I had 21 credits to his 15, indexed/maker's next turn for win. Never set up the full engine. 1-1
  • Round 3: (HB Jeeves) Got the full rig up turn 4, hit up RnD a bunch to get to 6. The two turns before I was going to Levi he tried to sneak out a NA chronos in a turning server (overwriting jeeves). Dropped the CyCy that I was holding half the game, walked in and won. 2-1
  • Round 4: (Lunisolar Flare) ugg... first turn Targeted Marketing. Got midseasoned for 6 turn 3, as I first thought it was a rush deck. Got scorched 2 turns later. 2-2
  • Round 5: (HB foodcoats) Got setup turn 3 with one pawn cycling, hit up RnD to get to 6, he in turn got out two advanced concept hoppers. He drops a food into his 5 deep scoring server, and I kept the wrong card when I hit up RnD with a makers keeping a gamble instead of the Index that would have allowed me to win. 2-3

Now testing with the following changes: -1 Diesel, -1 Indexing, -2 Scavenge, -1 Cyber-cypher, -1 Imp,. +1 Legwork, +1 Net-Ready Eyes, +1 Femme Fatale, +2 DiVinci.

I really dig that Patron Street Chess combo. Great idea. As for the Imp, I'd replace it with a Clot and another Clone Chip.

@forktines It was originally a couple of The Turning Wheels but as it was not available I slotted in an imp and pulled the third clone chip, to help against the nonexistent IG match-up that I was afraid would be everywhere.

Plascrete Carapace was also a last minute addition as I generally make and playtest initial deck lists with out any silver bullets.

Really cool. Props for taking such a crazy experiment to regionals too. I also started to build Patron Faust (in Hayley) but I didn't even think of the street chess engine.

No imp action? Imp seems crucial for dem multi remote corps (if those are still a thing). Although you mentioned having plenty of cash so maybe not.
