Null Breakers (v1.0)

Yhtill 54

[Disclaimer: This deck is a one-trick-pony. I win a lot of games with it when playing someone the first time, but if your opponent knows what you're up to, he can often beat you. So while quite strong (and fun!) with the element of surprise, it is no tournament-level deck. But maybe someone out there can build upon it and turn it into something stronger.]

THE PONY (BASIC STRATEGY)

Out of the Ashes is a stupid card to play... but a great card to have in your heap. So don't bother playing it, just trash it (either with Nulls ability or just by overdrawing).

Get a Medium installed. Two is better. Three is bestest.

When you got your Mediums out and some Ootas in your heap, wait for a turn when R&D is open (DDoS, Parasite) and run it 8 or 9 times. Maybe 10 or 11 times when you're Amped Up. Pile up Virus counters. Basically, access the whole damn R&D. Maybe one time from the bottom if you want to Show Off. Win.

NEVERENDING DDOS

DDoS is an incredible strong card anyway because it lasts for an entire turn. So the more runs you can fit into a turn, the more value you can get out of it. Fun!

MY BEST BUDDY STREET PEDDLER

She is the secret star of the deck. Seriously. In many games, Street Peddler is what makes the whole strategy work in the first place. This is because she allows you to install a card without a click, so you can install something at the very beginning of your turn, before you make all the Oota runs. That way, you can keep one element of your mega-turn (like a DDos, Medium or Parasite) secret until the last moment and catch the corp off guard.

NULL BREAKERS?

I tried variations of this deck with breakers (either Faust, or the fixed-strength suit) and it always performed worse. Consistency becomes a problem as the basic strategy is diluted, and if there is some ICE in front of R&D which you can't kill with Parasite or keep down with DDoS, you won't have the economic power to break it 8+ times in a single turn. The only thing that would support the decks strategy is Eater+Cutlery, but this takes up to much card slots and again, getting the right piece of cutlery at the right time is a problem, and you can't use it on a OotA run, so... nah. Just let it be a single-minded happy pony.

SILVER BULLETS

So, obviously, there are some cards that can give this deck a bloody hard time: Architect, Lotus Field and the hot new Magnet. Your best answer is: Don't allow the corp to rez it in the first place! As long as there is only one piece of ICE in front of R&D, don't run it unless you can DDoS it. Only when it is double-iced, you need to attack to unleash your Parasite to get it down to one unrezzed ICE again. If you run into some un-parasiteable ICE while doing so, well... bad luck.

ALL THE SNARES

Another problematic match-up is any deck that has a lot of traps in R&D - so especially Jinteki with Snares, Shock and Fetal AI. Accessing all the R&D in one turn means getting all the net damage... so you better keep your I've had worse in your grip and your Sport Hopper installed to deal with the fallout. (In other match-ups, you usually want to play them fast to accelerate your game.) Maybe there is some room for experimentation with other types of damage protection. (Noble Path...?)

THAT IS ALL

...or is it? Maybe have pancakes with it? Or find a way to include a breaker that actually works? I don't know, would love to hear your thoughts and variation!

This is a pretty neat idea, how about demolition run instead of showing off?

That is a real good idea. Demolition Run will not only allow me to dig deeper in R&D (as Showing Off does), but it can also help with annoying Upgrades in R&D and may still help ruin the corps game plan in case I can't steal enough agendas during my turn. Thanks for the feedback, I will definitly test this change!

The other thing I noticed is that Deja Vu is the only card in the deck that I rarely need. Recursion is just not important in this deck. Might replace it with something that gives me more speed to get my set up faster. Not sure what though. Will browse a bit and look for suitable cards, also open for suggestions.
