Killing you Softly - 1st Place CHCH Regionals

EthosNZ 243

Speedy HB with that twist of HHN & Boom!

This Regionals was a little weird as the CHCH meta is very small but quite competitive, we had 6 players total including Andrew who came down from Auckland to show us how it's done. In the end we had 4 rounds of Swiss meaning each person played 4/5 of their possible opponents and a Top 4 Cut with single elimination.

  • Shoutout to xdfubar who gave me some great advice on the deck the night before regionals I was originally going to play the version with "Mumbad Virtual Tour" but after talking with xdfubar on jinteki.net I decided to go a less dedicated kill route.

  • Shoutout to miek/triorph who helped xdfubar make the deck that would be used to beat him twice (you played yourself Mike ;D)

The deck did what moon decks tend to do, never killed anyone but if you can get a credit lead then you can use the HHN>Boom! threat as a great scoring advantage.

  • Round 1: Played against Andrew with his (Reg ass?) Andy deck, this was a learning exercise haha, he beat me well.

  • Round 2: Played against Donald with Inversificator Kit, hit him with the HHN early then kept him down he wasn't ready for it, he conceded.

  • Round 3: (This was on Camera so will appear at some point) Played against Mike with Omar, he hit Boom! out of HQ pretty early so the jig was up, but I just went too fast and got set up early allowing me to quickly scoring out.

  • Round 4: Luke with Siphon-Eater Whizzard, he kept my assets under more control than anyone else (as expected by Whizzard) but failed to find his Siphons and I was able to power away.

  • Top 4 Round 1: Played against Mike with his Omar again, this game was much closer I got Flooded 3 times however the last time was just before he started medium digging the shit out of R&D so it was a blessing in disguise game ended with me on 8 points and Mike on 6. I wish this game was recorded, amazing play by Mike.

  • Top 4 Final: (This was on Camera so will appear at some point) I was against Andrews Andy again, I goofed hard in the beginning and Andrew put the pressure on hard, but managed to pull it back and have a great middle then started goofing again at the end but the damage was done by that point, I was in such a dominant position that it would take a lot for Andrew to pull it back,

@EthosNZ I just noticed your deck name too! I actually labelled my variation "Killing you moonly"
