Super MaxX (3-4 at worlds)

Super MaxX, aka Big MaxX, aka Consistent MaxX.

60 cards with a lot of 3x.

I really enjoyed playing the big MaxX decks that were floating around leading up to worlds. This is my take on it, a slimmed down version of the 69 card MaxX list. It runs no Labor Rights cause ideally you win before your deck runs out, and 1x DJ or 1x Rebirth are there to help if it goes on for longer.

Some particular card choices:

  • Boomerang, because being able to rush is useful, but in the end I think those 4 influence could be better spent on something else, like more econ.
  • Imp, because imping Obokatas is fun, and helps set up for a Mad Dash win. Also useful to try to snipe kill cards and get agendas away from AMAZE.
  • Keiko mostly cause I didn't think to try Maw, and it's very cheap to install.

Performance on the day was alright, winning 3 and losing 4 games. Two of those I probably could have won had I played better (especially when I ended up 1 credit short from taking the game winning agenda through a remote).

Game history:

  1. Win v Palana. Got an early R&D lock with Stargate, trashing all the ice. Managed to win on a Mad Dash run taking an obokata and bacterial programming that were protected with hokusai and prisec.
  2. Loss v Azmari with Seamless. Stole an early Sandbox, while the Corp scored a NA’d GFI with Jeeves and Seamless. Got locked out of the remote with a Jua into Magnet, screwed up by not Hippoing the Jua so got locked out hard next few turns. Got to 5 points after a Mad Dash R&D seeing 3 cards. Then I was 1 credit short to grab the game winning agenda of the remote. Corp scored out from 1 credit with
  3. Win v The Outfit. I got a very strong econ start with double rezeki, keiko and paladin. Get an imp installed and run HQ, trash a ConVis. Then I find a CWP on R&D that I imp and then mad dash. Survive the punitive, and close out the game with another lucky CWP off R&D.
  4. Win v AgInfusion. I get a semi-decent start with some Sure Gambles and things. Draw into Rebirth and do an early Omar Rebirth for pressure. Take an Obelus that’s behind a DNA tracker putting me at 3 points. Ag shores up HQ with a second ice and puts a new ice on the remote (I hippo’d the tracker) so I suspect agendas on HQ - I go in and take 2 pointer. I recover from the credit expenditure - and the corp ices archives finally. AgInfusion Ark Lockdowns my 1 paperclip and pushes an agenda behind 2 ice. I run and hit a Kakugo. I have a boomerang on hand, but choose to go Omar instead assuming its an Obo behind. I install a second Hippo and do an Omar run into HQ and take a Send the Message for the win.
  5. Loss v Reality+. I do runner things setting up, they put things into a remote. At some point they triple advance a card, but I start with a run on R&D, but then realise they are probably doing Neurospike things. I get in and imp the agenda but end up with two tags due to Ping and Prisec. Then I get HHN’d and try to lock R&D while getting money enough to clear tags. Sadly I do not clear tags before the corp sneak out a rashida and find the Boom!
  6. Loss v SYNC. I have a poor start with not much econ. I suspect Neurospike shenanigans and get an imp out but am kept out by a Funhouse. I bounce cause SYNC tag is not fun and they score a Bellona. I try to money up but do not find much econ. I find a hippo and go to blow up the Funhouse. I foolishly decide to continue the run and hit a Ping, the extra tag means I lose too much temp, lose my TTW, eventually get HHN’d and lose to Boom!
  7. Loss v Palana. I have semi-ok start with econ, they score a 2 pointer and then a Obo behind an Anansi I do not have imp counter to trash. I have rebirthed to Omar but that was probably a mistake, as I see no Kakugos. I do not run one turn to get money back and they FA a 3/2 with SfT.
