Hyoubu Shuffle 2 - 1 Irish Nationals

Dzerards 488

My first Standard tournament, I mainly play Startup. Figured if I took a meta deck all my opponents would know my deck better than I did. So decided to cook something up that would negate all meta knowledge. And it kinda worked!

Basic game plan was Data Loops and Anemone to drop their cards in hand down to were they either couldn't steal Obokata or a Snare! was lethal. Bridgeman's PE Sentry suite to tax MKUltra and Boat counters. And then the hope that I could score a Flower Sermon at some stage to play the Hyoubo Shuffle.

Game one - Freedom - Loss

Seen five of my nine agendas in the first 3 turns. Finally found a Spin Doctor a few turns later only to draw another 2 agendas off him! :p My opponent still managed to win of R&D accesses even thought there was only 4 agendas in about 30 cards!

Game two - Kit - Win

Had to ride out the early pressure against an opponent who was dodging Snare!s like a champ. Eventually they ran out of tricks and multiaccess and I was able to score out Obokatas in a Data Loop Anoetic server.

Game three - Freedom - Win

Locked out centrals early to restrict boat counters. Anemone Anansi Crisium R&D kept Stargate at bay. They probably were a bit to keen on the Zero and Moshing and they ran out of hit points to steal a Obokata and needed the last Offworld Office to win. Unfortunately I had two Flower Sermons scored so I could move it between HQ and the top of R&D twice a turn.

Game four - Hoshiko - Intentional Draw

We played the game anyway. I wasn't playing that seriously at that point and got absolutely wrecked. I made a lot of mistakes. But even if I was playing at my best it would have been a rough match up. DJ Steve recurred about 6 hit points and all the extra botulus makes the ice way less taxing.

My Counter Surveillance Zahya got wrecked by R+ in the cut so didn't get a chance to play it again. But overall I had a fun time with the deck.

Thanks to anarchomushroom for organising and those that travelled across for the event!
