[Worlds-23] Esa - 3-3 on Day 1 (No Day 2: too many viruses!)

FixB 63

This is the runner deck I took to my first main Netrunner event: Worlds 23 in Barcelona. I prepared Worlds mostly for Startup (for SoC and Sunday) as my expectations for Saturday was quite low (in terms of results) and I thought I'd drop from the main event to try my luck at Startup from the early Sunday morning. So this deck is very similar to my startup one, with the addition of a Mad Dash and a DJ Fenris. In my testing before Worlds, it didn't perform always well, but I found it super fun to play and it usually gave me lines and produced very close games. And that's exactly what it did on the day. Each game was super fun and tense. I never felt outside of the game, which is what I wanted for the event (fun and close games).

The Airblades are so powerful with Bankhar, but also on their own for some ICE encounter. Katorga gives a lot of flexibility on what to recur (usually, the usual suspects: Finality or Chastushka; but sometimes the Airblades or a breaker).

After the CoS on Friday, I gave myself a rule of thumb of always taking a mulligan if I didn't have Ghosttongue in the first opening hand. In a deck with 26 events and where you need to keep being aggressive from turn one, this card is so much gaz!! It's crazy! It also lets you come back from very low creds quite easily: a Strike Fund or a Raindrops and you're back on track.

I ended up 33rd on Day 1, which was higher than my initial expectations! Unfortunately, I had to drop (having tested Covid positive on Saturday night - after a negative result in the morning). Which ended a fabulous event on a less than ideal note (I can only hope I didn't share the virus with anyone...). Nevertheless, this was a fantastic event. The Friday CoS and the Saturday were absolutely brilliant: thanks to NSG and every judge and volunteer who made it possible; and thanks to my opponents and friends (both old and new). Looking forward to the next one!!
