Nebula FA, Elevation Startup (outdated)

Mirror_Mirror 62

Early iteration of a Nebula FA list for startup (25.04 ban list). There are strictly better versions of this sort of deck published now, you'll want to use one of them instead. Specifically, Nanomanagement is such an important card to get hold of that you really want to go to three copies, and the ice suite can be adjusted to be notably more taxing (Starlit Knight doesn't pull enough weight for it's rez cost, even though it's a good anti Tag-Me tool). Baby remote to rush out a first agenda though is still very useful as you're liable to flood a bit if you don't, and you really want to be spinning back Nanomanagement rather than agendas.

FA Combos:

You can also do some kickflips for five but that's a waste of FA tools. Nanomanagement is your most important tool because it lets you close the game against someone who is keeping you locked out of the flip. You could go to one copy to free up influence, but then you're often forced to fetch it with Embedded Reporting or just in the waiting room and getting your RnD raided.

Note, you shouldn't FA out every single point. The Ping and Flyswatter are there to let you just jam out the first agenda or two, then you actually have FA tools around for when the first breakers come out. Regoliths are a placeholder until some good money alternative is identified.

Alternative card choices:

  • Plutus: Turns out that there's a lot of transactions that can go in the list, any of which lets you FA out with a flipped ID, or you can FA with an unflipped ID if there's a Peer Review in archives. But it requires you to actually have a bit of a tougher remote otherwise it will get checked and trashed at minimal cost. If you really like the idea of Plutus and more rush over FA, then maybe consider playing it out of The Zwicky Group: Invisible Hands instead.
  • The Holo Man: same sort of deal with FA/NA, but no influence and doesn't get you money if it sticks around. Kind of brittle though, probably not worth it unless you're building a full remote.
  • Your Digital Life: You can reliably get hedge fund cash with this, and in the later game if you get a superconductive scored you can get much better. Slots are hard though, and bad YDLs are really bad.
  • Key Performance Indicators: This sits in the Peer Review slot, fake money or agenda management instead of real money. Peer is better in the early game for actually scoring, but KPI is better in the mid and late and probably makes the deck more consistent.
  • Insert Ice Here: Just remember to include some actual hard ETRs so that you can baby remote and stop people just running through a server at the end of the game.

This looks great, just curious what to use instead - specifically for startup - as I don't know what is published and better than this?

@actionbraunjr Sorry about the late reply here. This list from UK Nationals Startup would be an example of a better list, I don't agree with 100% of the card choices made but it did beat me when playing against it so can't naysay it too much.
