Much like my Edward Kim deck, this was my first time using Gagarin Deep Space in any sort of competitive environment. There isn't too much I need to discuss about this deck. Anyone who's read into Gagarin decks on this website knows that Quinns is THE MAN when it comes to this Identity, and on the whole, this deck is a 99% carbon copy of his latest iteration which he used to place high in regional competition.
Basically, all I did was take out the Cortex Lock and toss in an RSVP. My philosophy behind that, is that while Cortex is absolutely brutal in the first couple of turns, once that Mimic/Sucker hits the table or the runner fills up on MU, that ICE is completely turned off. An RSVP is still at the very least a slight tax to Yog, and forces NRE, which you can then leverage to put a different subtype (or just bigger code gate) over it to block the server off from access for a while. My goal for RSVP is to stick it on top of an asset which I value moderately, like Boot Camp or PAD Campaign. It's ok over a central, I suppose, but this deck really shines when it can secure its remotes...and the earlier, the better.
The other change, although less significant, can also impact a game as well and turn the tide in favor of the Corp. I took out Geothermal Fracking, in fear of snowballing Valencia decks and just aggro-runners in general. Those free credits are something I DON'T need to see when I get a window and I'm trying to score out behind Orion and/or Wormhole. In Fracking's place, I put a Glenn Station. If this gets scored (say the runner suspects either a trap or an overadvanced Atlas), I can Jackson and decoy basically at will for the rest of the game while they frantically dig my R&D out for the 3 pointers. All I can say here, is "muahahahaha!" I dunno...it just seemed like a nice little functional hitch to throw in there to put my own spin on this amazing build.
On the night, I went 2-4...sad panda. Gagarin won in Round 1 via burning Whizzard to ashes, lost in rounds 2 and 3 due to too much Faust pressure that I wasn't prepared for. Afterward, I made a change in a just-for-fun game and ran 2 Swordsman (alt art cuz it's cool, yo) and made the runner burn through Chips/Parasites. I still lost, but I think there's something to that move.
Everything else this deck offers is explained in remarkable detail by Quinns in his latest posting - http://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/19483/quinns-tier-1-2-gagarin-deck-6th-at-london-regionals-#
High five, Quinns! Thank you for the inspiration, and keep up the great work on this Identity. :)
