🎱8️⃣ Egnith?
This deck went 2-2 in some tight matches. I went 4-4 overall. My runner
For some reason I thought it'd be a good idea to attend the summer showdown starting at Midnight AEST (Australian time). Boy am I glad those intrusive thoughts won because this was a blast.
Huge shout to the folks streaming and Maninthemoon for making the event possible. Was great to play Nets with people all around the world. And the people for making the event a laugh and great games.
Credit to this deck for the idea Sophie's Choice
This combo is unfortunately not quite as good as the above deck. Playing it is a bit of a gamble without Malapert to pull your pieces. And the general idea is you want to be scoring Armed Intimidation or baiting the runner to their doom.
My playstyle for this deck is rush rush rush, force the runner to contest the remote early and try to make over commitments happen. A lot has to line up for this to work, hence why I like to put pressure on the runner to make mistakes. In my games I didn't fire Holo Man once, but the threat is all that mattered, and it put the runner under pressure to shut it down. Here's some of the lines:
Value) Trail EoTL is 100% worth in my opinion. The games it hits are insane, and at worst its a tempo hit. Unless you're completely aware the runner is super behind, I wouldn't value Public trail to tax credits.
Baiting) Mestni is the great credit taxer, dip the creddies low for a kill. To bait, the lineup is usually Angelique and Oaktown in a server (or another advanceable), into Trail EoTL, let them have your Oaktown. Or if you're at threat Trail EoTL Angelique
Scoring out a) Fast advancing Armed Intimidation with Holo, or just install double. You do this so many times over the game, the runner may eventually choose the wrong time to run.
Armed lines i) The runner chooses 5 meat: Angelique cocks her sniper
ii) The runner makes the smart choice of taking 2 tags. Honestly, where the deck flops Eotl is generally not a hard enough hit, and you're lucky if you have 2 clicks after scoring armed, the Holo score is rare because we have 1. Once again value Eotl is worth 90% of the time. Otherwise jam, and take the 2 tags as a tempo hit.
Scoring out b) Closing with The Holo Man if you can, or trudge them through the remote with NGO's. this has lead to close finishes and not what this deck wants to do. But for a runner that is very passive, this is how you win.
I won't do full summaries but I had an amazing time playing this deck, people didn't expect it. And at the top, if I were to make cut, it probably flops with open decklist.
The two wins were kills , and the two losses, I would be winning the following turn. Good times
The bads;
Logjam was not a friend here, I always found I was getting it too early or too late in the game. (rezzed with 2 counters!!) Sandstone would've been a much better choice for this slot. Making a huge Log with Tree line is favourable however hardly works out.
Right cards right time. We have no way to search for our cards, and guarantee our combos. Relies quite heavily on Rashi popping and spin's coming clutch.
Cheers!

I (unsurprisingly) highly approve! I haven't had a chance to revisit Sophies choice BtL since Holoman came out - but this may be the inspiration I need to take another look at the archetype. |
