Not Necessarily the News (6-1 @ Worlds 2021)

The week of Worlds, out of practice (brief attempt to follow some Slumcast advice and build a Seamless Launch AgInfusion: New Miracles for a New World), it became clear to me that the only way forward was to build post-BlameChanger Sportsmetal inside Haas-Bioroid: Precision Design..........or to build Precision Design inside Sportsmetal: Go Big or Go Home.

Which just meant to do my goof hybrid Sportsmetal thing where I run more ice and somehow use remotes ......with as much of the Blamechanger draw and tempo as I could fit in (Tranquility Home Grid is the key here), while running Luminal Transubstantiation ((((BANLUMINALCOMPLETELYINTOLERABLEEFFECT))))), and Seamless Launch, to try to mimic that Snarebears deck I could never pilot, that in the world of PAD Tap Rezeki, that might not have to care about the Runner's money at all.

But what happens when we have to care? When they're checking our remotes like a total joker with 419's holographic ghost shaking his head in the background? We're sure to draw our Audacity and we have two Biotic Labor. Might as well BOOM!.

Also big Maxx is good.

Ark Lockdown

While my runner was getting shredded, this one took me 6-1 as detailed below:

Round 1 - hbarsquared Adam

Seems like either intentionally leaving a Tranquility Grid in HQ to force the turn 1 trash, or putting it out naked with a Hyperloop on it for the same effect, right into Hard-Hitting News, then double Sprint double Spin Doctor to locate Boom before Adam chooses to shake all the tags. This was a quick one that left me overconfident when facing my next Adam. ............

Round 2 - Dunsch97 Tagme Zahya

I think the turn one Rogue Trading wasn't clicked at all. I remember paying to trash an early one, and I think my opponent accessed Hard-Hitting News and suspected foul play early, but they stuck to their plan. I drew cards with all of my might.

Round 3 - ArminFirecracker Big Maxx

Things lined up very well in this streamed match, where the first agenda was a Global Food under a Gatekeeper I think......maybe it was Hagen. With two HHN in hand it finally occured to me just double advance the Food, to max punish with tags if it was stolen. An uncontested Rashida got me Seamless, and Maxx paid to install Maw that turn, allowing me to score the 3 points and HHN in the same turn. Tranquility put the math in my favor to swiftly hit with a second HHN to take Maxx from 1 to 5 tags once they shook a few, and all of this bought me the tempo to FA two agendas with the cards I drew looking for Boom........ on top of this Ark Lockdown play to ensure that the agenda and combo pieces in HQ were safe, only for Maxx to immediately find the 3rd Black Orchestra off a Gachapon the following turn. It was too late, and Archived Mem helped me deal with any potential Maw hit that could disrupt the Audacity finale.

Round 4 - 241 vs CooK_Ed Adam Loss

We both rejoiced at the coinflips going our way. Then Adam installs Rezeki Casts Logic Bomb turn 1 and by turn 4 has found all 3 Jailbreaks. I must have figured a forced trash would go my way and instead of protecting HQ turn one, I threw Rashida under a Vanilla, leaving a MegaPrix in HQ. But what happens if Rashida just draws you two agendas and no ice and and and and Three Jailbreaks in top ten cards or something. Untoward. This was not toward.

Round 5 - ataraxis Hoshiko

A fellow 50 card anarch deck. I'm positive I scored an early Vitruvius counter, and due to breaker issues just had the draw to find fast advance tools by the time the Tranquility Gatekeeper remote was contested.

Round 6 - Woanderer Alice Merchant

Drafter HQ Drafter Archives by turn 2. I think some combination of Vitruvius counter/Archived Mem/Spin Doctor/Sprint made any Alice/Maw hits feel redundant, and this one sped out past another 50 card anarch. Why the hell did I also run a 50 card anarch? (3x Clip 3x Blorck all the draw I will NOT be outrun!)

Round 7 - Frizzler Apoc? Diversion of Funds Maxx, streamed match

Maxx ran Day Jobs here, and really sped to get all breakers in the bin. Spotted an Out of the Ashes, really looked like the Apoc plan. This let me get away with far too much, without ever forcing me to install a board that cared if it were Apocd, and with Biotics and draw and value I got to 5 points with 2 Biotics and 2 of the 3 relevant agendas all in hand. Stargate and Doof held me off for awhile, and I realized a turn too late that I was letting Stargate blast through a Hagen over and over, and Paperclip was NOT in the bin. But second Spin Doctor and two Sprints were buried, there was no Tranquility Grid running, draw was slow and I was staring at Biotic outs and I wanted my credits. Luckily, Stargate only found two agendas, and my opponent never blasted into HQ more than once a turn, and the last Mad Dash into archives only got them to 5 points, as I finally Bioticd out.

What a damned day. This corp shredded, but I came in 50th. Thanks to all my lovely opponents except for Ed, who almost all shredded my Runner over and over. 2x Find the Truth Val only fits 1x Turning Wheel if you want 3x Deuces, and despite all the speed and breaker redundancies....a mulligan might force you to spend time installing an early Liberated, or you end up allowing 2 Rashidas to fire early vs a Neurospike deck..........and the meta is just too fast for such things right now.
