Initial concept

This deck initial idea came from something I've been wanting to do for a long time: score a project Ares with 10 counters on it and blow up a full Rig. With this deck, you can!

And it gets even better. Since The Source, you can even Shoot the Moon with that archetype! Unbelievable!

Main strategy

You should spend you few initial turns icing up the central servers and getting you economy going. Dig for your combo pieces and rez ICE only in emergency (an indexing, a legwork), or to force them to spend some money. Then, you can simply install an agenda naked, advance it once and cross your fingers :p

A few details on card choices

I initially wanted to go with 3xMidseason, and cut the Jacksons, but the deck was too unreliable. I thus inserted 2xShadow alongside the Jackson, with surprising effectiveness. It is a good tax on the runner and does not cost too much in the early game.

Snatch and Grab is there to snipe Kati Jones, the bane of this deck (let's not mention Magnum Opus).

Cards that I'm on the fence about include:

The good

  • You get to blow stuff up.
  • Contrary to an NBN deck, you actually have ICE with decent stopping power.

The Bad

  • If you do not succeed in midseasoning, you will have a hard time winning. You can still manage to snatch a victory, but it won't be easy.

The Ugly

  • You will usually be dirt poor after a midseason. Getting back up may be hard if you do not shoot the moon to protect yourself while steadying your economy.

After I saw you play this deck at the Shoot The Moon tournament, I tried to make something similar. I put 1 Information Overload but it was not very effective. The ICE cost too much so you barely have on opportunity to rez it. (Shoot The Moon didn't exist at that time.)

As to your choices : Thomas is great because that's an investment the runner will never be able to counter. He is also more flexible. You can Midseason / Install / Psycho on the same turn you retrieved the credit from him. So I would go -1 Green level ; -1 Blue Level ; +2 Thomas

Thanks for the feedback! Information Overload is indeed extremely expensive, but Shoot the Moon might help with that. For now, I'll just stay on the safe side of ICE cost and test as-is.

The reason why I did not put Thomas in the initial list is that it actually triggers after the midseason. Green and Blue levels both help you find and trigger the midseason replacements. I might try to make room for one by removing a Snatch and Grab, though.

Oh, and by the way: I published this deck in response to the last RLC podcast, which you can find there: runlastclick.blogspot.fr The last podcast talks about Worlds with invited guest Martin (from ICE Analyzer), and is pretty fun (as usual).
